Corruption is one of the major problem of every country. it deprived all the privileges that people deserves to have. but why there is corruption? Our country, My country the PHILIPPINES are just one among those developing countries tag as one of the most corrupt country around the world. yet, the Philippines known as the only Christian country. Does the church failed to teach his people in good values? Why those people in the government do not afraid to do such irregularities? Is it right that the church should be blamed in rampant corruption of the government?

My definite answer is and I think there is no other effective than to fear God. A God fearing man I believe is honest and trustworthy. Corruption is cause of loves of money. The Bible teaches not to love money for it is the root of all evils.

Your absolutely right! I think if a person has totally fear of God maybe corruption would totally be eradicated. Thanks for the response. :)

corruption can't be stopped because some of the people who actually do to make our country to become a better country are the one who are involved in corruption. it is depend on the person's character if they want to have a large amount of money. church should not be blame on this.

Hello Sphinx, I don't think that government nor the church should be blame in rampant corruption of the government, not even temptation. We only commit sins (specifically corruption) when we yield into temptation that surrounds us, therefore I believe it is mostly within ourselves when we start yielding to the temptation. It is our whole decision to engage in corruption and it cannot be stop I believe so. Because in this world, we are always surrounded with temptations and desires to have everything in this world. On the other hands, although I said it should not be blamed to government, nor to the church, I believe that both plays a big role to minimize corruption. If a person is god-fearing, he/she tend to not to engage in corruption.

what an active mind. but i seem to lose your premise, are you really asking or you have just made a conclusion - putting a question mark as non-commital. as this is for discussion, clarify because phils first of all is not the only christian country. what will be your success rate in value formation? and up to what extent would you give credit to the church? better yet, is value formation solely a churchly act? by the way, who is blaming the church for rampant government corruption?

Just like what our current president said, change starts from each and every one of us, and that's where corruption also started. Maybe not from you or from me, but from someone. That's why to make our country progressive, to stop the bad things powerful people do, we should convince them and ourselves to make a change. The church should not be blamed for this. They preach everything they can. It's up to the people listening, if everyone really listens, to practice what these people of God preaches. Basically, it starts with you, with me, with every single individual in the country to make our country progressive. A small change in everyone will make a big difference to a nation.

Let us not let religion be blamed for the failure of mankind. Corruption helps every one to cut corners. As citizens we may be befitted some time and if it is so we ignore corruption and only when it affects we are bothered about it. If the world needs to change then the people have to change and say no to any form of corruption with courage and determination

As long as the culprits know they can get away with it then corruption/stealing/plunder of nation's money will continue unabated. If the law can send bigtime thieves like Arroyo and co. to jail then the small fries will likely think twice or abandon their crimes because they know their chance of success became slim.

The church should not be blamed. Since the church should be an independent body separate from the government. The wrong doings of the government should not be blamed on anyone except in the government alone. However taking in consideration that the people who elected the government are Catholics they however failed to select a rightful leader. So basically, We are to blame! since we are the ones who elected the government. We should have chosen better!

I think no. There is a phrase 'nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa'. Yes I agree if they are God-fearing people the corruption might stop, but you know He has given as free-will. And will most of the time their so called 'free-will' are only good for their selves...

...i think it is not right to blame an institution because of the government official's behavior specially with regards to corruption...either way, everything depends upon one's perspective...by nature, although not all, but most people when we got power and money, we were blinded by it, which sometimes making us forget where we came from and will blind us from distinguishing good deeds against evil..
