Hi All. I'm choosing between a Laptop and a Mini Laptop.I usually use laptop for surf and save documents ( MS office ). My laptop is quite heavy, so I want to buy a mini laptop. It's small and light. I can put it in my bag to go to office and put it in my luggages when I go to travel. How do you think? mini laptop is good?

i'm using normal laptop now. i feel that my laptop is quite heavy and inconvenient when i have to bring it along with the mouse and charger together to class or somewhere else. i am thinking of buying a mini laptop, where i can bring it and use it anyway. most of my friends are changing to mini laptop too, i think it is really good when we need to go around for most of the time. mini laptop has longer battery power, if we don't mind the screen size and DVD-room, it will be the best choice.

yes mini laptop is good also, but compare to laptop the specs of mini is much lower or the computing power is much slower.but since your work is more on office documents only i think mini is enough especially your work needs travel a lot.

If you already have a laptop or desktop then a mini-laptop is a great idea for moving around.
I have just bought a 7" screen job for under £100 and it does all my mail and simple office tasks while on the move. With a 16Gb usb memory stick for programs and files to plug in when needed, the 2Gb solid state 'drive' installed is plenty big enough to hold Windows and general programs.
The keyboard is small but so much better than a smart phone.
If you want to play top end games, serious music or do heavy graphic work then even a regular laptop is not the answer and a serious desktop with big speakers is needed.
So for simple work, a netbook is an ideal traveling companion.

It depends on what you desire to use the computer for. It also depends on what types of things the mini can do. sometimes the mini's do not do anything much but surf the net. It is okay if that's all you need it for when you travel. But if you need it to do more you may want to stay with the laptop!

A few things that generally people want in any computer, is efficiency, good screen (size and quality), weight, CD Drive, storage capacity and the size.
If you compare the laptop and the mini laptop, you will find that other than the size and weight of the mini laptop, laptop is much more better than mini laptop.
My friends have bought mini laptops and they were having problem and one more awkward thing about these mini laptops, they will not have a CD drive.
If you want to buy a small laptop, buy a laptop of 14 inch screen with good configuration. Using a minilaptop will not be easier because of the size of the screen and the size of the keyboard as well. However, you have to take the final decision regarding this. Think twice before investing money!

I believe the mini laptop you mention I refer it as netbook. Netbook is not smaller size version of laptop. It's not capable to do everything that can be done on laptop. This is due to netbook hardware specs is more low end, therefore it can't really run any heavy job. If you going to use it just for documentation or surf net, that'll be no problem. But if you want to do any photo editing or programming, it's not possible.

a mini laptop is convenient per se being handy and light, features are limited considering that you have to need external drives to be able to read cd or dvd. i think it would be better to get a smarty cellphone with a bunch of features similar to a mini laptop which is more handier and lighter..

I still choose a laptop. There are also light laptops in the market. The thing is mini laptops are very limited in capabilities. One that really bothers me is that I need to buy an external DVD-Rom to install my favorite games or watch DVD movies. Heavy programs and games are not very good at mini laptops. All you can do there is type documents and browse the net. Hope I made my point. Happy mylotting!

It actually depends on your purpose. If you would travel a lot and have lots of baggage to bring along then a mini laptop would really come in handy than a 17" laptop. Though you can't compare the performance and features of a mini laptop to a laptop. For example, it wont allow you to have a dedicated video card. Also it wont allow you to have many usb slots. But still a mini laptop would come in very handy mostly in your situation.

I would much prefer to use a normal laptop than a mini one. I find the mini one too small. I like working on a large screen and so does my eyes. It is hard and frustrating to work with such a small screen as we are only able to see limited things in a page.
There are many laptops in the market which are light too. You just have to do some research.
Furthermore, mini laptops have very little capabilities and their RAM, function are all much lesser as compared to a normal laptop.

Well, that depends on what you are going to use it, if you us it for browse and for office documents, a mini laptop will be good for you. in my case i prefer laptop, the 14.1 inches size, because of my job, i use some programs that need more performance and a bigger screen.

I think laptop is better than mini laptop, friend! I don't think use mini laptop is good. Therefore, you must spend money to buy a mini laptop when you have already have a laptop.
