i would say that i myself don't feel safe in our country, how much more can we make the tourist feel safe in our country? i don't want to put our country down. but i just think that it is not that safe any more for even filipinos in our country. what makes me feel unsafe in our country are those who are in uniform are using their power to abuse people , there is so much human rights violation in our country. and when you travel down the road you must also be careful when driving as there is so many reckless drivers around. i don't like to learn how to drive myself cause i don't think it is safe to drive down the highways in our country. there is much corruption, in the south there is terrorism.

I know you may not agree with me when it comes to this idea but, our senators need to bill a law that requires the government to issue PMC's (Privatized Military Contractor) to stay inside foreign tourist buses. The plan goes like this: Once the bill is passed, Aquino should issue Privatized Military Contractors a.k.a. Heavily-armed Freelance Mercenaries for each bus that has foreign tourists. So everything would go off safe for our foreign friends. On the side of the bus companies, they need to be trained in self-defense tactics to be sure that they can guard the tourists well. There are many Privatized Military Companies out there that our country can ask it's services from. So it becomes a reciprocated force of security. They should also be taught rational sense not to invite a policeman inside a bus, to have a "zero-tolerance" policy when it comes to police officers asking themselves to join the bus. Regardless of what the policeman may say, the bus driver SHOULD ignore the officer, for their company will be fined if ever they commune with any officer regardless if they are the "Goody-two-Shoed" type or the "Disgraces Racist" types. Bus companies should value the safety and the preservation of customers first before all else.

i don't think that will help at all. as we don't know if those PMC can turn up as another hostage take himself. so there is no assurance that they will be an asset to the safety of the tourist.

Your scenario could happen if Aquino skimps on the selection of PMC's unless he decides to pay a huge cost for reputable Contractor Agencies, then that would be a different story. They have a name to protect and people to protect.

yeah it is very important that they screen their candidates carefully. must have a background check, character and integrity check and those that does not have bad record at all. and also they should do psychological check also.

It's sad but true, our country may have to bid tourism goodbye. I hope the government will do their part in uplifting the moral of our country. Honestly I am almost loosing hope.

There is still a solution to our troubled tourism. The solution is to improve local tourism. Meaning go out spend time to travel and discover our own country. We ourselves should be the solution if we go to tourism destinations and spend our weekends there then we could alleviate the situation. The people who are relying on tourism as their primary source of living would be glad. Why wait for foreign tourist if we ourselves can solve it. Promote local tourism!

but i think even filipinos are worried to visit some parts of the country specially the south. so i think that it is not the ultimate solution. the ultimate solution is to stop the terrorist and to make places secure. and tourist will just increase naturally.

I guess there aren't any safe places anymore. Even if you travel to other countries, you'd find new dangers lurking. Even in HK, there were recent incidents of violence wherein a family was a victim of an acid attack by unknown individuals.

Yes, it's sad, I've seen pictures of your country and I think all the Islands are wonderful. I've heard that most of the people are wonderful. I had wanted to go visit it years ago, but some American Nuns were kidnapped and as an American,I didn't feel it would be safe. I really would have like to have gone. I wanted to see a Christian Children's fund child in the Bicol area. But then that happened and people were saying it was unsafe to go there. I'm sorry that you don't feel safe in your own country. That has to be very hard. Corruption and terrorism, that sounds like a very scary combination.

yeah it is not really safe but if you are very much familiar with the places to avoid i think it is still okay. but for tourists, you must have a local people who you can stay with like friends , real close friends who can accompany you, it is still okay actually. only that i don't have the money to go around the country. i would love to visit many places. but it is not possible as i have responsibility and i need to stay at home most of the time because of my responsibility.

There is so much corruption, terrorism and dangers in every country. It is my opinion that perhaps more talk about the good points of the country should be displayed as opposed to the repeated same events that perhaps happened a year or two. This is not to say we should not display and or talk about the bad, we should also talk about the good. So true that a country should ensure the safety of all tourists, but it is also the tourists responsibility to behave and or research before they travel.

i think that they have done their research. only that they were just unlucky to be victimized by this bad guy who wants a way out of his situation. as we know this hostage taker had so many pending cases , and was dismissed because of the many charges against filed in the court. so he wanted a quick way to solve his problem.

All places here on earth is not safe even here in our Country. I do understand your point that you are not trying to put our county down. However, We choose how we can be safe we are the master of our actions. So if we want to be safe we act accordingly to be safe. If you think driving on our highways is not safe you should think twice. Driving here in our country enhances your skills to be a defensive driver. You cannot control the other driver's action but you can control your reaction. So its either you allow them to be reckless or you prevent them to be reckless.

yeah all countries seem to be a dangerous place too. only few countries are regarded as safe. but still we have to be careful even if we are in the safest country in this world.

your feeling that your country are not safe and even the place where you are living in and you are going to make you unsafe .all these things are dew to the poor .the poor could make people to commit ,to do everything that can help him or her or them rich or poor any more.so you can see the results that the government abuse rights, and terrorist are unprincipled, the poor who are murdered by chance are not in charge own to police has no idea to deal with .so let me see the solution that is developing your country's economic and stronging the power.this is true that to know depends on the objects that you are using or around you
