I dreaded Duchess's passing...

Duchess has been very sick for over 2 months. Her doctors took care of her, did everything to save her or at least extend her life. But she was very ill. She had a good fight, though. This morning when I woke up, I petted her and asked if she is hungry. She would normally answer if I ask her, she would "meowr". It was so sad to find out that Duchess had to go. Yes, Duchess, our beloved kitty passed away. She died in her sleep. It was like she was just sleeping, her body was warm but no breathing. Tonight, I had to feed the other 3 cats, I have 4 until Duchess's. It was really sad to know that Duchess is no longer around to hurry me up. I put away all her medicines and I began to miss her once more. I am missing her so much. I was the one to give her medicines everyday and every night. I always stay up late so I won't miss giving her meds. I had to feed her because she couldn't find her food bowl anymore. Miss you so much, Duchess...=((

I'm so sorry. I know what you mean, the lost of a beloved baby is just heart breaking. You had her some time, I take it, I know it will be a while before the pain eases. At least she's gone on to a better place. My belief is that animals never fell, that they go directly to heaven and wait for us there in paradise.

Thanks, Elic. I have known Duchess for a year and half but I've loved her so dearly. She's a very special cat... can't help crying thinking about her....

No. She was my husband's cat for over 9 years. Her previous owner abandoned her in this house and my husband found her here the day he moved in. I have known Duchess for a year and a half when I my husband and I got married. I fell in love with Duchess the first time I saw her, her big eyes were so beautiful... She was diagnosed with cancer 10 weeks ago. =(

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, I got the news over at Facebook about Duchess. She was a real fighter though and at least you had those extra months with her. It's never easy is it, to lose a furbaby and I know exactly how you feel since my Pyewacket passed away a little over four months, and even after all this time, I still expect to wake up and see him (((((((((((hugs))))))))))

Thanks, Mel... I looked at Duchess's "thrown", her kitty sofa, on the couch where she loved to stay and her food corner. She had a separate food corner so the other 3 would not bother her while she eats. Really sad because she's not going to be there anymore....((

The loss of a pet is something no one really wants to have to look forward to or think about. Its even worse when that animal is sick and you know they are living on barrowed time. Part of you wants the event to hurry up and happen so that you can end their suffering, but at the same time you wish you could heal them completely so you may get just a few more years with them. Dying in their sleep is the best way to have them go, because at least its quick and painless. However you lucked out to not have to see them take that final breath. I had that happen to me once. I never want to experance that ever again. I never do. I send my heart-filled condoulances for your loss, and try and keep in mind she is now in a better place. She is no longer ill or suffering which is important.

Sorry for the loss, many people don't understand what it is to have and care for a pet! its unfortunate, how clueless many can be and wonder how can you have feelings over your lost pet. but I know it hurts it hurts really bad, when my pet turle, Snow, passed toughest thing I had to go through. Haven't even brought myself to purchase a replacement of her, I don't think I will though there was only one Snow in my life, but I do think I will adopt a yorkie, they're so precious and it won't be taking the place of Snow it will just be a new pet to love and care for. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss!

My sympathy to you on the loss of your cat. I am a cat lover too and I know how hard it is to loose one that is your favorite. After 20 years we lost our cat a few years ago. She always slept on my pillow until in the end when she could no longer jump on our bed, she would sleep on the floor next to the bed. May God give you peace and comfort in your loss.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. It's harder when it was that kitty that you had the schedule with and they depended on you.. You realize your loss even more when you no longer have that routine. I had brought my last 2 girls (almost -until I found my missing Shetana) to the vet to be fixed. They were both cats that demanded my attention. Squirt was getting pills twice a day and precious was always following me and underfoot and she (because of neurological damage) has a funny way of walking that sounds like a herd of elephants is following you.. They were gone for 24 hours to be spayed and all of sudden I didn't have a cat to pill and the house seemed so quiet - I know I have a dozen more.. but it seemed so empty without them for just one day! I have lost many and it's heartbreaking. Just know that she isn't suffering anymore, and that she is running around just like a kitten at the Rainbow Bridge.

I am so sorry about Dutchess. I know losing a pet is hard especially since one thinks of pets as being members of the family. I bet it is hard on the other cats as well. Just remember Dutchess had a wonderful life and remember all the od time you had with her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I would be the exact same way. When I read this it brought up memories of having to put my sick dog down and the pain that I felt when doing so. Just be strong because Duchess would want you to be. And remember if you need people to talk to we are all here for you.
