These are two phrases I have never said in my life. Does that mean I am not a woman? It seems that there are so many who have asked their man or friend if they look fat in clothes. I am in shape, round. I have always been and always will be! And as for feeling guilty about eating a dish of foods I want? I can't understand that. If you are lucky enough to Eat what you want , why would you feel guilty? If you over do " treating yourself, then just add a little exercise after.Your thoughts.

Hi Sarahruthbeth, I cannot understand the mentality of looking fat or thin. After all, we do not check ourselves in the mirror every single minute, what for we care about what others think.
When it comes to good, I think the most important concern is the nutritional value of the food.
I do not feel guilty about eating anything. However, I stay far away from the fast food restaurant.
I value my health, and fast food is definitely not nutritious.

I am your polar opposite. I don't know nor care about the nutritional value of mt food. I do eat fast food. To Food Nazis my "diet" is all junk food.So be it. I don't spend my time looking in the mirror either but I fear we are in the minority.

hi sarahruthbeth I think the women who say these things are the ones who want attention and admiration as they probably think they will get the expected oh you do not need to diet, you look great blah blah bhah. In
other words look at me, aren't I just the most lovely thing you ever saw?
I never pay any attention to those who say those things myself.
And I am also in shape, round that is. If I do feel guilty about eating something I sure as heck am not going to say any such thing. l,o l

Some people will gain weight just breathing in air, no point putting the blame on food! Having a healthy body is much more important than looking slim and then faint often. On the other hand, of course, being overweight comes with risks too.
I do agree with you that if we overdo it, just compensate for it by eating less or exercising more after that, no big deal!

At least you are conscious of that and try to do something about it. I have known some who are aware of this problem, but just keep on piling on food in their plates. They are unwilling to do anything to help themselves while still complaining about how plump they are getting. It makes no sense to me.

Whenever I hear someone say this.. Honestly, it's always the skinny girls. I think they just want people to compliment them on how thin they are. They also complain about how they "look so bad today" when they are looking good. Girls do it for attention, that's how I see it.

Some people do not get fat no matter what and how many they eat, just like my girlfriend who is always slim and in great shape. It kind of depends on genes,i guess. But as for these girls who are easily to get fat, some choose to go on diet, some choose to eat what they like as usual. It depends on their own opinions and whehter they can endure others' attitudes and gossip or not.
I think you're very optimistic, don't care for others' viewpoints too much, and have confidence to loose weight,so just do what you wanna do.I support you.

Hi, Yeyelee, i support your viewpoint. Really it depends on genes. Take myself as an example, i always keep slim no matter how much i eat. But one of my colleagues, she's fat no matter how fewer she eat. But we are both optimistic and happy, because we have some achievement in our work so that in some degree, she forgot her fatness.

I may have asked that stupid question back when I was young and foolish but I've NEVER said I'd feel guilty nor have I ever FELT guilty about something I'd eaten! Like you said, I just make little "deals" with myself and exercise a little more and maybe eat a little less the next meal or next day or whatever.
Strangely enough, as I was reading your discussion from my e-mail they were talking on TV about the body image of young women today because of the pencil-thin models and actresses that are seemingly considered the "ideal". I'm sure for many young girls and women today "Do I look fat in this?" is one of the only questions they ever ask! I realize there is a real problem in this country with obesity, especially among the young, but there is also a problem with young girls and women with eating disorders because of poor body images drive by the media. Actually it seems there is no "happy medium" when it comes to young girls and weight; they're either overweight or much too skinny to the point of looking sickly. The latter is just as deadly and often kills much quicker and earlier than the former. It's clear you have a very healthy attitude which I hope you spread around if possible!

Thank you. It took some time and a good man to get where I am. From 13 til now I just realized I wasn't Suppose to thin, so I never tried to be thin. I wasn't friends with the " in crowd" so I got to be round without any peer pressure to be thin. But I Also thought no guy would find me attractive Boy was I wrong! my guy loves my curves! It is going to hard to spread this message. You know what may work? If guys that prefer curves speak up and tell the size zeros they are Too thin. I notice that guy magazines feature women with fuller figures.

I haven't said do I look fat in this as I can be my own judge...maybe when I was younger but I don't think so. And I also have never felt guilty for something I ate. If I treat myself to something I just watch it when I eat later etc. My sisters and I sometimes split a meal so we can have dessert.....just work it out that way.

I have never said that either. I think that as long as I can do the right amount of exercise after I have indulged in whatever food I feel like eating, it will be okay.
You should take a look at how many calories are in each thing, and do just a little more exercise than necessary to burn that number of calories. That way, surely you would actually lose weight from eating junk rather than gaining it, so you wouldn't look fat in anything at all!

You should be happy that you have never had to say these words. So many women going through it on a daily basis. i have had my own moments where I didn't buy or wear something because i thought it made me look fat. it was probably all in my head, but the thoughts were there. We shouldn't have guilt over eating something either. We all deserve to be happy. We should eat or where what makes us happy and not worry what others may think.

I think being a fat little girl then a teen was the best thing now. I never thought I was suppose to look thin so I never thought about how what I wore looked like to others. I just wear what I felt comfortable in , T-shirts and jeans.i Still wear T-shirts and jeans.I hope you are ignoring that little voice when you shop and you are getting what you want to wear and eat.

I never ask anyone questions about how I look. I just trust what I see in the mirror. I must be one independent person for I never want to get anyone's opinion before buying anything. I buy what I want even if others say it is not good, etc.

I am man but I have eating problems too. I am getting fat, and I don't get enough exercise. Let's say the same lame excuses that I am busy and my only hobby is eating. I do believe that what we eat is what you see in our body. Is our big belly representing our laziness and indiscipline when it comes to our diet.
sometimes we can deceive our shape by wearing the different kind of clothes, according to its color, its print and its size. Try them all to know which is fitted for you.

Suggestion. Just take 10 minutes a day and get up and walk. You don't have to join a gym to get some exercise. I am still round but I lost weight just by eating less often and walking. Good Luck.

Insecurity my friend, that is all it is about. With a twist of attention wants. I think all of women, although I am very slim, it did not come overnight I work at it really hard, but am able to eat very nicely.
On occasion I may look in the mirror and think something makes my hips a bit too wide, and then I think but the hooey. How can this be I am so darn thin, so I just attribute it to an insecurity factor that's all.

Wow.That's makes sense. I guess being a fat little tom boy helped save me from this. I never looked in the mirror and thought I Should be thinner her and fatter there. I got up put on a t-shirt and jeans and off I went to play with the boys. To this day I never pay attention to what is "in" and what isn't. I just put on a T-shirt and jeans and go.

It means you are a very confident woman. It is a quality many women lack. The ability to be comfortable with who you are is a huge turn-on for a real man. Women do not realize that the man you are with loves you for who you are and it is very annoying to constantly put up with the self-confidence issues, especially with an attractive (does not mean "skinny") woman.
Keep up your positive attitude, you have nothing to be ashamed of!!

Why thank you. I Never tried to be thin to attract a man. I was too busy having fun being one of the guys . Now I'm glad for each curve. My guy love All of my curves. I wish more men could convince women that not all men are attracted to very thin women.

I totally agree with you. I think that life is too short to feel guilty about eating, and the ones who need to get a life are the women who think they Ned to feel guilty.
Now I'm going to go eat a big piece of chocolate.

Well as long as one is happy with the way they are i dont think they would feel bad in whatever they wear or eat.At the end of the day it is one's own happiness that is important. If one is treating them with something extra and they are compensating it by excercising then why worry at all.

Sadly I think it is other women who are making some women feel bad abut their shape. They look at the models on the magazines, Of Women's magazines I might add. and they think men , All men want their women to be thin. Wrong! If they look at the women on the covers of the Guy's mags, they will see some curves. And I have found that if a man loves you , it isn't your size he fell for but your character, personality. It is sad many women think they have to be and look perfect to get a guy to love them.

In my lifetime for the first time I am hearing that, somebody can feel guilty for what he or she is eating. Eating food is our necessity and what food we are eating is our preferance. Peolpe who control a lot on what to eat and what not, are the ones who are missing the most important aspects of life and happiness. Each time the regret their favourites the miss a small part of happiness of their life. And the one who is not living happily is not living his live but just surviving.

Well said. i have just noticed in commericals and on cooking shows how some people feel guilty if they have a sweet or salt. I just can't understand it. Don't they know how lucky they are to be able to Eat , period? We are blessed to be able to choose what we want to eat.it is sad that many don't enjoy what they eat. I always say I rather eat what I want and die sooner than Never eat what I like and live a very long life.

Hi, sarah,
I agree one of friends said: Life is too short to feel guilty. It's meaningless for us to discuss fat day by day. What's important to us is keep healthy, no matter you are slim or fat. When you lost health, everything is empty.
