For four years of being a call center agent I finally gave up today. It's very stressful. I'm part of the Technical Support Team where customers call us and ask for help how to back up files, fix their anti-virus,fix their internet, fix their hard drive and etc. I admit being a tech support agent has a good pay and that's the main reason I stayed for years. But do you know what's the hardest part? The hardest part is everyday you take in calls there will always be a customer who yells at you like hell and treat you like a robot! No offense to people who are like this. Anyone who can relate?

Wow so i guess calling your job as a tough one is just now enough! I have read a few books and i also know about my cousins who are working in call centers. They have the hardest job because they require a lot of communication skills and good amount of patience which i never have. They need to show respect to everyone. You are trained to do so and you get so used to life that sometimes you don't even know whop you are and why are you doing this anymore. They are really serious jobs because repeating the same dialogues again and again would take out the stuffing of anybody. Well if it's for the sake of money then i guess you would have to just do it. Cheers!

A Pot of Gold at the end of a Rainbow - This picture depicts a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, probably signifying that if one has the stamina, tenacity and desire to pursue some ambition or objective, he will surely attain it in the end.
I agree with you when you say: ".........you get so used to life that sometimes you don't even know who you are..........." You become a mechanized reply machine with pruned emotions. The same is true of a guy who cleans toilets. The first week he experiences all kinds of "denials", but then, he's got to survive, and so it becomes a necessary evil, to cut one's emotional responses to the job; ..... he just goes ahead and does it! But, by far the greatest jackpot would be to find out your niche in life. Few people discover it, but once you do, it's not just the money, it's the continuity without fear, of a career, or work that you would feel, is simply an extension of your personality! Then, of course, big perks and money generally pour in without struggling your guts out for them. Here's your pot of gold (just desserts) at the end of the rainbow (your struggle for a niche)

I not only worked as a call center but as an operator. People used to call in just to insult or just to belittle you-to make themselves feel better. I sucks, am going to school for a new profession. I think the worst part is that most of the time the companies you work for treat you like a preschooler. You not only get your calls monitored but every secound ( did you send to much time with that last call or not enough ) I can very much relate.

hello there,i found your name same a s my friend has. but i don't think you are that friend i have. but we can be friends here if you like. well,i have no experience in call center jobs but i do know what it feels like cause my sister is a call center agent and also facing such troubles. well,in all jobs in life, you'll never get away with those attitudes.it's just the thought of you can't handle it anymore that's why you gave up. no one wants to be treated that way, cause we all have feelings that people should always respect.it's not nice to have those calls which makes your own self hurt the most.

Yep. i worked in a call center for 4 years too both inbound and outbound calling. Ive been in customer service and sales and it really is a stressfull job. some people are really rude when they cant see the person they are talking to. I quuit last year and oh what a relief. I'm into networking now and I earn so much more than I used to. A few more months and I will have enough to start my own business.

Being part of the tech support department is something. Not everyone can handle the stress and has the know-how on things technical. Also been a tech support and I agree with you, that it feels like hell when someone just yells at you while you're trying to help them with their problems. They treat you like you are the lowest form of living thing on earth. But I just can't help but smile about it, when I get to solve all their issues and they get tongue tied because of embarrassment - for the way they treated me :) We can't deny the rewards of it - compensations, recognitions etc. Still sometimes the rewards are just not enough. Call center people are people with dedication and strong will. It takes a lot to be one.

Hi shearry~ I hate to to tell you, but unfortunately no matter what type of job you have or what type of business you are in that is the way people are! I worked in both the Medical Field, (which I loved-but couldn't earn enough money) and the Legal Field (where I was just about driven insane)! People were always demanding and some were nice and then some were horrible! But, for me it was the type of work, especially in the Legal Field and the type of people I worked for that almost did me in! I could deal with the clients, most of the time! But, then there were always the ones who just wanted more than you could give them! Stress is the reason they pay more for some jobs, and then again I've had some jobs with stres where I made almost no money! I guess that is why they call it a "job"!

Being a call center agent is really a tough job I have not been one but I have friends who have tried this. I must say it's not a job for me. I think the best tip is not to take the shouting personally, since the person on the other end is at the end of his wits because of frustration. Good luck the whatever new path you are about to take. Welcome to Mylot and Have a nice day!

My son works in a call center for computer technical support. Not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me someone is yelling at him for something or another. He also tells me that 95% of the time the person who's computer crashed usually did something wrong to the computer, or downloaded something they weren't suppose to. The take it all out on my son. Thank goodness my son has a great sense of humor and it usually doesn't bother him. He is like you, the pay is good, that is why it takes it day after day.

just calm down ,my friend ,each career has its own problem ,maybe the salary ,maybe no good prospect ,maybe some other things ,just keep normal heart ,gain some experiences ,maybe the problems they asked you accidentally do not know ,then maybe you will use mind to think it over and over ,after solve it ,you maybe get happy in your heart ,and gain some extra experiences ,just useful to your further jobs(suppose you will change your job or get some chances for promotion) ,you can imagine ,now finding a good job with good salary is too difficult (at least in my country ,it is ) , we all support you ,just calm down

since you have experience in a call center, why not try chat or email jobs? it's like a call center too but you will not be taking calls. i'm sure you'll enjoy it. i've been a chat support representative and i love the job! because i enjoyed it, i got promoted in less than a year and got promoted again few months ago... really, there's a lot of enjoyable jobs out here..you have an experience.. all you need is to research a bit about the job that you think you would enjoy most. good luck!!! :)

Call center jobs are highly paid and that is what attracts many to this job. It is tressful especially if you have to work during the night. Again the work depends lot on how the people are responding on the other side. It is good to have a break if you feel stressed. Being relaxed helps to focus more on yourself and it benefits your health. You know what could be best for your body and I wish you all the best for all future endeavours!

I tried to work in Call center for 2 months but I can't endure the stress of being yelled by the customer on the other line. I was an outbound agent trying to catch the customers attention and then I tried to speak like a parrot coz of my spiel. And I have to kiss the customers attitude. so rude. I lost my respect with myself coz in reality I don't want anybody to tell me some bad words. Anyway, I salute those CCA for being patient of their job. I hope when I come back to this industry I must strong enough.

Money seems to be everything for everybody now a days.It looks to be more important than God and human values.Yes money is important but not everything. We can purchase many things but not everything. For instance we can buy a wife or husband as the case may be but we cannot buy parents brothers and sisters. Now a days we have to strain too much to earn money but we can easily spend it in no time.As my friend remarked like this" He lost his health while making wealth and he lost his wealth to regain health. Therefore make reasonable money and try to be contended and be happy
