i may sound weird in a way but i fear bees more than heights and snakes,,, ^^
bees are four-winged insects, they depend on pollen as their protein source and on flower nectar and oils as their energy source. they don't seem harmful right? but i'm afraid of their sting and its effect in general, thats why i tend to hide when i see one.
oh, and this one's crazy, im afraid that they might get inside my ear (even if i know that they won't fit) thats why i fear them,,, ^^

bees only sting when provoked. They die once they lose their sting, and so only ever use it if it is essential for them to do so. So unless you go upto the bee and start swatting it, its unlikely for it to bother you! They sometimes come a little close to you, but this is usually wasps rather than bees...unless you smell like a pollen covered flower, a honey bee or bumble bee is unlikely to want anything to do with you.
A Wasp on the other hand will btoher you for anything sweet, so if you have wasps around you and you have something like a stick of rock, or an ice lolly, your best to lay the sweet thing down and sit still until the wasp is gone, although these are the same, they wont sting unless provoked!
Even if you are stung by a wasp or bee, it isnt usually anything to worry about unless you are allergic to a sting, and even then, one sting wont usually do much more than cause a rash or hives. A bee sting feels like a small needle, and a little antiseptic cream and ensuring the sting is out of your skin will ensure it heals quickly with no side affects.

Hi merraine1428, to me bees are adorable little insects which I could see every now and then browsing among the flowers in my front courtyard. If without them as well as well as the ants the plants growing in my house compound couldn't bear any fruits for sure. I appreciate them all the time helping in the transferring of pollens. Both bees and ants are diligent insects. They seem never feel tired flying among the blooming flowers in the morning.
Bees would attack us only if they find we might harm them. I believe they would stay harmoniously with us doing our respective activities in the same place without any disturbance. I love to watch them busy flying above the flowers when I water the plants in the front courtyard every morning. I treat them as my good friends anyway
Happy posting

You are most welcome merraine1428
I hope so dear. Bees won't simply attack and cause harm to us if we never disturb them. Definitely they would chase after us if their hive is dumped by stone or other stuff. In case come across such situation it's wise to dive into the water

While I've never been stung by a bee... I have horrible allergies and severe reactions to minor big wounds like ant bites and mosquito bites. I'm very afraid of getting stung by a bee or a wasp, because I think I might go into Anaphylactic shock (A severe allergic reaction where the throat often swells up and the person is unable to breathe).
But I can't let that get in the way of me enjoying time out in the sunshine with a bunch of flowers. If I see a bee, I try to resist the urge to FLEE AS FAST AS I CAN. Instead... I stay still and let them buzz around as they please. Chances are they're not going to bother me. Bees only sting in self defense.
I'm more afraid of wasps. Wasps can sting more than once, and they're more likely to sting without being provoked.

Aww... you see you have to remember that most species of bee aren't aggressive at all. They can only sting once (and then they die) so they only use their stinger to defend themselves to defend their hive. If you don't provoke them, they're probably not going to sting you. If they're flying around you and making you nervous, it's probably cause they like the colors on your clothes or the scent of your perfume/deodorant (Cause it reminds them of FLOWERS!).
And a bee's just not going to fly in your ear. You've probably seen too many horror movies that involve bugs!

if i see a bee, and im in an open space, i flee as fast as i can, but if im indoors (coz they get inside the house, if the window is open), i tend to hide somewhere and cover myself with blankets,,,

i hate them... been stung 3 times already and it's paaaaaaaaainful! 1st when i was riding my bike and the damned thing stung my arm. 2nd was, believe it or not, when i was playing pool, in my finger! 3rd was at the beach... hit my back. i think i'm like a bee magnet or something. most of the ones who gets stung is when they disturb the hive but not me! i get stung in some unconventional way. pffft! beware of those bees! beware!!! lol! seriously... avoid them at all cost. :)

I am a Canadian Beekeeper, who has been keeping honeybees for over 30 years. I have 400 colonies, and I work with bees almost every day in the summer. There is seldom a day that I don't get at least one bee-sting. Bee-stings hurt at the time but go away within 5 minutes, (after you get used to the them) Some people are allergic and one sting can be fatal. At this time in the summer, we are busy bringing in the honey from the bees, extracting it from the combs, and selling it.
Albert Einstein once said, "If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination, no more men!" Scientists today agree on the importance of bees to our ecosystem. The honey bee is by far the insect that we often take for granted. Due to a suspected virus, we have lost over seventy percent of our honey bee population. This is a scary reality as reproduction of nearly eighty percent of our plant life depends on the pollination of bees. Therefore, it is very important we take care of the honey bee whenever possible.

thx for the information,,, ^^
but in what way could we protect them without being stung? i don't like the idea of something getting inside my body by any means, like stings, or something,,, ^^

The only thing that you should be nervous about in regards to bees is their sting. If you think about it, it doesn't even hurt that much, so I don't think there's all that much to be feared.
Even if you find a bee crawling on you, the best thing to do would be to stay still and wait for it to fly off. When a bee stings, it will die, so it won't waste its sting on something which doesn't seem like it's going to be a threat to them.
If they don't think they're in any danger, they're not going to sting you.

I think bees are not very dangerous. You don't need to fear them. Most of them only attack humans because they were provoked. We need them. If you saw the BEE MOVIE, without them pollinating, flowers will be gone. Happy mylotting!

Bees are amongst the most harmless of winged stinging creatures. They will die if they sting so they take every opportunity to leave a threatening situation.
I myself am concerned about yellowjackets and wasps, because they can keep on stinging and can be aggressive.

harmless indeed, there's even a fastfood chain named after it, "jollibee", its quite popular to kids coz the bee mascot is so cute, but i find them scary for real, if only they look like little mascots flying,,, ^^
and i think bees are prominent here rather than yellojackets,,, ^^, or it could also be that i'm just not aware,, ^^

It is not crazy to be afraid of bees. It is only pertinent to be so since they can be more dangerous than snakes (the poisonous ones). A bee sting can set up such massive allergic reaction in susceptible persons it can endanger life due to anaphylaxis - something akin to what happens after a penicillin injection in a few.
And a live bee in your ears can scratch the ear drum and cause perforation and hearing loss too.
May you need to be cautious if not scarred...

i know that they're created that way to protect themselves, its just so sad why they can cause those kind of things, if only they're kinder,,, hehehehe,,,

No, you don't sound weird at all. I fear bees (or any other flying object/animal, for that matter, heh) flying into my ears as well. I do my best to try to avoid them myself due to my lack of knowledge of me being allergic to their stings or not (becoming swollen scares the crap out of me). Everyone has their own fears. Without fears, people would probably become arrogant and destroy themselves (Well actually, it works both ways. Too much fear could cause people to not experience life to the fullest and sometimes destroy, but I digress). I hope that one day you will conquer your fear of bees and see that they aren't too bad. ^_^
Well, that is if you're not allergic. If you are, then stay far away from them as possible.

we all have our fears! I would not judge your fear of the bees as they bite really hard and it hurts!! i mean a bee sting is dangerous, even right... the buzzing sound alone, similar to that of the flies and mosquitoes i am not such a big fan too... he he me, i am afraid of cockroaches. they are so dirty, just the mere sound of their wings flying.. that could already get me up to my feet and run around the house!!!

Do you know 80percent of the snakes are non-poisionous, but even thouch we fear those terribly, it is nothing but an obvious human nature. Although only some of the bees are poisionous, but we fear of its bite and not its poisionous nature, etc. Some people do not fear snakes but fear bees and some fear bees and not snakes. It all depends upon individuals, mony fear both, ha ha ha.

yep, but snakes are barely existent, i mean, they don't usually appear in our place, while bees do, so i think thats the reason why i feel like i fear bees more than snakes,,, and oh! i saw a really big snake at a zoo, i find it cute,,, ^^
