Hello fellow mylotters. I am wondering how you feel physically when you wake up later than normal.
I myself feel groggy and disorientated for a good portion of the day, and at least for the first half of the day just want to climb back in bed but I don't.
How about you? How do you feel when you wake up later than normal and do you go back to bed if you need more sleep?

Hi rosegardens, I would wake up late occasionally. This is not a good sign for I could enjoy having more sleep for the particular day. I know if I were to be disturbed in the middle of the night like the disgusting barking noise every now and then from the neighbor would awaken me from my sweet dream. Sometimes I would awake from scary nightmare. The scorching hot weather also would disturb my proper sleep as well. I couldn't fall asleep soundly that fast after I's awakened by any of the disturbance mentioned above.
I toss and turn on my bed for quite some time I then could get into sleep again. This makes me feeling really tired and would wake up late the following morning. Obviously even waking up late in the morning I still feel exhausted for I still lack of sufficient sleep
Happy posting

I wonder why my neighbor doesn't unchain the pity dog during night time. Might be the unceasing barks are asking its master to release it from the uncomfortable leash. Moreover there is gate surrounded and the dog is unable to stay away from the compound for sure. Why not give it some freedom

When it is hot it is very uncomfortable and difficult to get sound sleep. Even when it is too cold it is hard to sleep. How unfortunate you also have a barking dog to wake you.

This is so very true. Usually on Saturdays I tend to get up late. Throughout the week I’m so busy that even if I wanted to, my eyes just don’t open early on Saturday mornings LOL … however, I have a lot of pending household chores scheduled for that particular morning and every time I wake up late, the sun seems so high and I feel as if the mornings just gone by…not only do I feel groggy, I feel guilty too! And the sleep kind of puts me down like a hangover…everything seems to go in slow mode throughout the day

lol! When one does not get enough sleep for a few days, it is difficult to wake up on the days off.

When and if I ever wake up later than what I set out to wake up I feel really upset and disoriented. It is as If for a good part of the day I just can't catch up or think straight.
The upset part is I am a very early riser and by noon time I feel like the day is over. So having woken up late makes me that much more to have to work and go to bed even later than normal.

It seems for most of us here on mylot, lack of sleep or sleeping in causes a lot of troubles.
Noon is late to wake up, I think. I cannot stand to wake up later than 9 am but that is sleeping in a little for me.

Having a job at night makes it difficult to get good sleep. I hated working the night shift because it just made everything topsy-turvy for the days.
Thank you for responding and Happy Mylotting!

Hello to you! How are you doing?
I prefer to wake up when my body is ready to wake up. I hate it when I have to get up by the alarm. I don't think that's natural at all. Some days I need more sleep and some days less. Though I know that I should go to earlier, no later then 10 PM. I'll have to keep working on that. But I stay later than I should writing on the computer. I'll have to keep working on it. This morning I woke up at 7 AM and I feel great.
But I know that every body is different. So each has to do what works for them. Work with your body and not against it.

It is good to go to bed early and wake up early. Benjamin Franklin, a great inventor and philosopher from Philadelphia in the early 1700's had a saying:
Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
I usually feel better when I wake up early, providing I get enough sleep.

I have read many of his wise sayings and he certainly was a great thinker. The one you quoted is a great one. It makes a lot on sense.

I can always tell when I've woken up late, as I don't seem to wake up properly at all for the rest of the day. I don't really like having a lie in, as feeling like that all day just makes me think that I've completely wasted a day in which I could have been doing something much more useful with my time than I had been doing.
If I get up early, I might feel tired when I wake up, but I will actually feel alert once I've had my breakfast and had a shower.
That's why I much prefer to get up around 8am when I don't particularly have to be up at any specific time, as I feel much better than I would have done if I'd have got up at 11am or later.

It seems so far everyone that gets up late seems to have trouble throughout the day, at least here on Mylot.

It is good you have a day that you sleep in on such a regular schedule. Our bodies need a schedule for waking and sleeping.

Isn't it weird we feel so much more sleepy when we wake up late? I wonder why that is.

Groggy and disoriented too with light sensitive, stomachache and backbone aching also. But after sometime will disappear, little dry and sore throat and also body pain. But little hot drinks and some light breakfast like bread and biscuit will do nice. However sudden too heavy breaskfast will cause diarrhoea for me.I rather wake up at correct time and have a little evening nap which is better.

It seems some people do get physical pain from waking up late or getting too much sleep. It is good you have found a remedy to your aches and pains.

I just want to stay 5 minutes longer in the bed after the alarm clock... and 5 minutes more again...
And most of the time I fall asleep again and wake up an hour later. So, I really have to force myself to get up right after I wake up or I miss an hour or more.

lol! I do the same thing. I can usually get past 2 alarm bells, but if I let it go any more then like you, I will not hear the alarm and continue to sleep.

hello rose gardens.. whenever i oversleep i always feel light headed and same to you a bit disoriented. So i always see to it that i will have an 8 hr. sleep and if i still feel sleepy during those time, i will not go back to bed, instead i'll do other stuffs that will make it go away..

Sleep? What is sleep????? Ive found that no matter how long I sleep I always feel groggy but it usually passes in a few hours or so. I have a hard falling asleep so when I do, I usually try and get as much as I can but that doesn't always happen. The only time I can ever go back to bed after I wake up is on weekends but no matter how hard I try, the z's never come easy.

I have a hard time falling asleep as well. I have found that Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc tablets knock me out like a sleeping pill would, without the side affects. Calcium is a natural muscle relaxer. Perhaps your next trip to the grocers or the dollar store you can pick some up and see if it would work as well for you. Take it 1/2 hr before bed time.

I usually wake up at around 10:30am on weekends and around 7am during weekdays. I too feel kind of groggy when I wake up late and sometimes I find my self going to bed again because I feel so tired for some reason but that doesn't happen during the week, it just seem to happen when I sleep ten or more hours.

I am often up late and work on my computer. A couple of days ago I talked on the phone to a friend on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean - it was 3 AM for me - and it was real fun.
I can sleep as long as I need most days but I have to work on going to bed earlier. Or move to another time zone, if that helps..

Isn't that odd that we sleep in and want more sleep! One would think we would be able to stay up longer and need less sleep the next day.
Is the headache perhaps due to the previous night's activities? Or do you get headaches when you sleep in.

Waking up late yes it happens to me too.But I do not entertain that to continue.
Because I have a fixed schedule of work.Mostly I go according to that and does not deviate at all.
Only on some Sunday this happens to me - so I do not take that as a serious issue, because I am active and strong .

It is good you are responsible to get to bed early. Many times I have difficulty getting to sleep, especially if I have too much coffee that day.
You have very good habits!

Nice one. This discussion is ME!
That's what i do almost everyday. It's my mom who awakes me with a splash of water. Now i am so used to it that i don't even know if she has even sprayed water on it. I am always groggy when i wake up. I know that i already had enough sleep but i want to always sleep more. I however make my way up to the bathroom and freshen up for myself. I like to be in college more than anything because that's the place that has everything. Friends, food, entertainment and girls at the same time. That keeps me awake all day!
Cheers!

Have you been to a doctor to find out if there is something wrong that causes you to need so much sleep? It is not normal for college age to be so groggy all the time. Please see a doctor because it sounds like there may be something wrong, unless you are going to bed late and not getting enough sleep.

I miss doing that. Lol. Anyway, I feel the same way. Sometimes I feel it the whole day, sometimes I become ok after eating. Oh and sometimes I get a headache and i feel really weak and hungry. Oversleeping is really not a good thing. One time I slept the most part of the day, then my friends had to force feed me so that I'll have energy and feel better.

When we are tired we tend to eat more to get the energy we lack from not enough sleep.
That is miserable to be tired and get headaches from it too!

i am always a late sleeper. if i don't have a class the next day then i usually woke up late. if i wake up late, i feel my head is really heavy and it makes me want to sleep more or go back to bed but i know that i got to eat at least.
