Correct me if I am wrong, but why is it that all angels are male? Well atleast all the angels that I know of that was mentioned in the bible. Like Raphael, Gabriel and Michael.

I was actually thinking that they are not gendered at all. They are neither male nor female. But I guess I've never really thought about it too much! Maybe they are all male for their strength.. but then God is not either gender...

That's true! I never thought about where they actually got their names. Any more names are less gender oriented than ever before!

I agree. Angels doesn't have gender. This is what our school has taught us. Humans just named them for what they think they are. And before human became civilized, Men makes most of the decisions.

Hi damned_dle,I don't believe that angels are either male or female but that is how they would appear to us here because we think in those terms. I think that we all have at least one guardian angel and it likely that females would see them as females and males as males. Blessings.

Mormons also think that you can save somebody by getting baptized for them and that Joseph Smith Junior found a golden book written in an unknown language (reformed hieroglyphics) which he translated into 16th century English (many parts identical to bits of the King James Bible) using magic spectacles. They also believe that they will all become gods of their own planets and wear magic underwear (now not when they become gods). Therefore I don't think what they believe in if proof of anything except their own stupidity.

Hi damned_dle, I'm not a christian therefore I don't have any knowledge about angels available in the bible. I have seen only lovely images of angels in fairy tales, legends and children story books. The majority of them are females with wings in white color. Their clothes are white as well. They always do good deed to help those kindhearted people who are in difficulty. It's believed that there is an invisible angel somewhere around to take care of everyone Happy posting!

If there are angels, they probably do have both male and females since God created everything else with both males and females. It makes no sense that God would have done differently when angels were created. However, all the religious books that come from that area of the world (Talmud, Bible, Koran) were are written and the contents were controlled by men who were determined to keep women in a subservient status. These same men removed entire books from the Bible; because, they did not like what was in them and they controlled and limited access to the "holy works" until the past century when literacy become widespread. Anything female with the power of an angel would have been seen as a threat to male authority.

I grew up in a catholic school and as I remembered correctly.. (if not mistaken...) angels doesn't have gender. That is why they appear to be manly but look rather feminine. And the fact that "MEN" or humans are the ones who named them doesn't support the fact that all angels are men. ^.^

Angels, like God, are neither males nor females, they are spirits. God and angels are spoken in the male gender because the Bible is written on a level that we can relate to. Since man had headship over the woman so the angels as far as power and headship are superior to us.

I have heard two different lines of thinking. For the most part it is just what you said angels are all males and any females were offspring of human and angels hybrid called Nephilim. I have also heard an alternate version and that is that angels have both sexes male and female and that the devil is actually female...lol. If you look at some ancient mythology of creatures like the Baphomet they are shown having both male and female organs.

I think there is female angels. We know the male angels only because these are the ones that list in the bible. These angels are being mentioned because they are involved in certain situation.

Uhm.. you're both right and wrong. Well, based on my teacher in Bible, angels do not have gender, they're both not female and female. And they don not reproduce, thus making them genderless. Names are just added by GOD so we won't be confused, and in other Biblical movies, angels happen to have gender so that human beings would recognize them as real people.
