My best tip would be "Don't leave everything to the last minute"!
I have been up to my eyes in last minute work so many times, and every time I vow to myself that i will never ever ever make the same mistake again.
What have you learned during your time of being a student?
What advice would you give to other people who are in your situation right now?

I think one thing I tell students over and over and also practice it myself, is to really be there while you are in class. For that 45 minutes or so make sure your mind stays on what is going on in class. This makes it much easier to remember when you are outside the class.

My tip would be to keep your things organized and actually study. That's the problem I always had in school.. I was smart, and I'd get good marks but they could have been so much better. I never studied, not for test, not even for the exams. I think I studied for 1 exam for half an hour, yet somehow I was still pulling of 80's-90's in all my classes.
The tip you mentioned is also very important... I have been up so many times until 3am to do last minute work that had been assigned 3 weeks earlier.
Another tip is do not miss class. I know your not necessarily supposed to go when your sick, but if your not THAT sick you should still go. I remember missing a day once then coming back and we had a huge test on a poem they read when I wasn't there.
So, that's my advice on how to be a successful student. I'll be following these tips this year.

The most important thing for me so that I would be successful when I was in college was that for every hour that I spent in the classroom, I needed to spend at least two hours outside the classroom studying the materials. Now, during one year when I was in college I didn't heed my own advice and that was the semester that I nearly lost my academic scholarship. Procrastination is bad, but studying on a regular basis will take you further than having to cram for an exam.

Hi,
I think the student should fall in love with his studies. A student should treat his studies as entertainment, refreshment rather than obligation. Study is a discipline, but it should be taken sportingly. If you only see the discipline part and overlook the fun part then you will fail to be a good student. Your interests drive your career. So before you start your study remind yourself of the purpose. Motivation is essential. Read http://socyberty.com/education/how-to-stay-motivated-in-your-study/ which is a motivational guide for students. First you study in a disciplined way. Then slowly you start enjoying the job. The more you study the more interesting it becomes and finally the study itself serves as a source of happiness and entertainment. Thanks.
God bless you

Or you've a short-cut!!
Stop everything only for the sake of praying to God that you must be successful all through the day and you must have a strong Faith in God and you must Believe!!

Complete discipline my friend. One must always remember that you go to school/college because you chose to. It is not obligatory. So my best advice to to really pay attention in class as once studying on you own, well you are virtually on your own.
Whereas no one can help and it will now makes the studying doubly hard as you have to start from scratch.
So think about it for a minute if you honestly paid complete attention you actually would find yet ever more interest in the entire class.
Good luck friend this is not an easy task but in the end it will make you proud and well worth it.

Hi GemmaR,
For me to become a successful student you should have first discipline, this includes:
1. Attending classes regularly and being on time.
2. Getting prepared when in class, and have the ability to pay attention to class.
3. Caring about their grades and still willing to work to improve it.
4. Are respectful and polite even if they get a little bored.
5. Finish task or assignments that look good in a way that would reflect their pride in their work.
And I may add up that if you are a student of a college, and to become successful is that you should not be forced for the course you have taken by your parents or you should not be only influenced by your friends but you should have taken the course you want to pursue or the course that you have passion on it....
Happy mylotting! Godbless!

My best tip would be to allot some time during the night for studying and reviewing everything you have learned that day. Also don't cram. Finish everything if possible at least a week before the deadline. That way you can still check for errors or mistakes. And also take a break from studying and have some time for recreational activities.

whenever you are in class, listen attentively with your teachers. You have to listen whatever they say. It is also useful if you are going to jot down those important keywords they say.
You don't have to study very hard till dawn just to review your notes for the exam for next day. Do it everyday before you go to bed. Just read everyday your notes without memorizing them and do it regularly and see before exam that you already know everything in your notes you memorize them painlessly.
While you are studying, you have to focus with the skills, that you have to improve, like communication skills, computer skills, technical skills, mathematical skills, accounting skills, engineering skills, typing skills, and so on. This are the life skills that you can use to apply when you finish school. I think communication skills is the best one.

the best tip of being successful student would be the dedication to become a real student and having one goal " to graduate".no matter how good you are inside the classroom as long as you understand the feelings of everybody, you appreciate your own work, and especially your dedication, eagerness and hard work to fulfill all the things/ dreams in your life, well that would be the best way for you to become successful student.

I am like you, I leave everything to the last minute. I took two summer classes this semester and I vowed not to leave anything to the last minute. When I actually got things done right away I was less stressed and I received better grades. I would tell someone to never procrastinate and to always say 'I can do this' when you tell yourself you can't, you set yourself up that you really can't.
