When you sleep, are you aware of sounds or anything that happens around you?

I must tell that I sleep very well, and in the first hours of the sleep I usually cannot be waken up and don't really react to what is happening around me. If somebody manages to wake me up, and I sleep back, I will not remember it the next day, although I have been up for a longer period of time.
How about you? How are you during your sleep?

I am a heavy sleeper and I don't hear any sounds whatsoever...well, not in the first 30 minutes anyway.I have always been like this. Even when I have been rested all morning, I can still sleep early and well at night. I wouldn't wake up if a thief accidentally kicked a can or something.

Same here. I can go to sleep after 30 minutes of being awake after a long sleep. It seems that I am very accustomed to sleeping.

How do you feel after waking up? Are you refreshed or are you tired the whole day?

If i am tired then i can fall asleep in the middle of a heavy metal concert.
I remeber about a year ago i was sleeping in my room, and all i remeber was my brother opening the light asking if i heard anything, of course i said no because i didnt. Then i went outside, and i was the closest to the road, a car banged into the wall of my house and i was the only one that didnt wake up. It made alot of noise, or at least that is what they told me.
I am a heavy sleeper when it comes to sounds, but if someone turns on the light i will wake up fast hehe.

It happened to me as well. Once I was very tired, but went to the disco and I managed to sleep near the speakers, which were huge. I slept an hour or so and then I had a great time. It seems that we are very good sleepers.;)

It means that I have a very deep sleep, because I am not aware of anything in the first hours of sleep. I can't hear and I can't sense anything, only physical pain can wake me up or a nightmare.

I have a baby so I should be aware of my what's happening around me when I sleep. But even before, when I just put on my mind that I should be aware of the things around me like when I have to be waken up by my alarm clock I just always think about it, try to remember it before I sleep, and I wake up when my alarm goes off. Unfortunately when I'm really tired, I sleep heavily, I can't be waken unless the sun is up already or unless you shout at me.

I too sleep very deep…been like this ever since I can remember, so much so that during my childhood and teen years, my mom used to actually be exasperated as to how could somebody sleep so much LOL… I too don’t remember even if my hubby or son has been to the loo during the night… they tell me that I did wake up on hearing the footsteps, I also enquired what’s going on and on being told that someone just needs to go to the loo, I promptly fell asleep again…the next morning, its just blank to me.

Hi,
Normally for the first few hours after I lie on the bed, I will
sleep very soundly ,but I need to have a queit bedroom in order
to get my sleep.
When I heard some noisy sounds, I can't sleep well and feel
uncomfortable.
In between if I do heard any loud noise, for sure, I will wake up
and have a look on what is happening. So I can say that I am a light
sleeper.
Especially when I sleep with my son, when he keeps moving, his leg bracelet
will ring ring and it makes me wake up to see what is happening to him.

sleep is necessary and sound sleep is essential for healthy living. Many take sleeping pills to get sleep which is not correct. you should get natural sleep. The duration of sleep varies from person to to per and age.Of late I do meditation which helps me in getting sound sleep. Therefore I feel that meditation and not medication is the right course to get sound sleep

I'm a heavy sleeper, so I don't hear anything once I'm fully asleep. I remember my parents waking me up during a really bad thunderstorm once when I was little (I think it was a hurricane, but I'm not sure). My whole family was amazed that I slept through the whole thing (except for when my parents woke me up to move me from one room to another). Both my brother and sister had woken up crying from the noise, and my parents had trouble sleeping with all of the thunder. I just heard some rain on the window and went back to sleep.

I'm a heavy sleeper. I slept through the fire alarm once. (Oops. That's not good.) Though sometimes small noises will wake me up. I usually remember if I've been awake for a few seconds, but sometimes not. I guess it's never really consistent with me.

I'm one of those people as well who have trouble falling asleep unless it's all quite, so when I do fall asleep, if something will be loud around me I'll wake up again, though from time to time if I'm really tired I'll really sleep tight and won't hear a thing happening around me, or if I'm deep in dreams.

sleep is necessary and sound sleep is essential for any body whether children adults or the aged. But the duration is gradually reduced as we grow up.Personally I get very good sleep. Many take sleeping pills to get sleep. That is not correct and advisable. We should get natural sleep.I feel that meditation and not medication is the correct choice.I have started meditation recently and I feel that I sleep well due to meditation

When i have fallen asleep, whether i'm aware of the sounds around me depends on the level of my tiredness. If some day i played basketball all the afternoon,i won't be waked up easily except extreme disturbances and i'll sleep soundly all night. But if i were overexcited that night,i can hardly fall sleep and noise awake me often.Even the snores of my roommate can wake me up.A painful night.
