I'm guilty of being a feline racist.

I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to be very picky about the breed of cat that I'm willing to own. Siamese cats are to loud, brown tabbies are to spastic, Persians shed too much, and so on. I really love orange or silver tabbies and tortoise shell calicoes.
Does anyone else have a preference or dislike for certain breeds?

I'm a feline racist as well. The only breed I like is whatever breed my cat is. If every cat could be like her, the world would be perfect.

I don't like long haired cats most of the time because I don't have time to groom them, saying that, I have 3 of them...
I do love Siamese, I like their chatting, their activity and their lovely personalities... I have 3 solid brown tabbies and have had others and NONE of them have been spastic - I suspect that its more of a breed they were mostly rather than their color, after all, silver/gray tabbies are just the dilute of the brown coloration...
Mind you, my current 2 cats that are colored like Siamese are feral, where as Rygel, who is brown tabby and white and Scamp, who is black, are very Siamese acting.
I will say that most of the orange cats I have had have been EXTRA sweet, but I really hate the "torti-tude" that torti's/calicoes have, and I have 3 at the moment.
Probably if I have to say one color really annoys me, its the "blue" cats, both of the blue cats I've had have had the Russian Blue attitude and I hate the constant cat fights because of it...

Hmm none of my tortoise shells have had much of an attitude... maybe because they were the only cat in the house for most of their lives? Of course the first one I had was sick when we got her and bonded with me very quickly ...she had a head cold, and liked to nuzzle into the nape of my neck :D

Haha, love the terminology.
I never used to like cats until I got my own. Now, I melt seeing most of them. I'm more of a canine racist... or, I just have a preference because I loved the girl I had before, she was a Shiba.

I have a hard time bonding with dogs. They seem a little needy after you've been raised with cats. But I do like brown labs and Pomeranian :)

How you feel about the type of pet you want is quite common. People have their preferances for the type of cat they want to own, as well as their reasons. As well as the fact they have the right not to like cats in general. Each person is different on how they feel about the subject.
Personally I'm not all that picky. However admittedly I have my favorites. However a good majority of the cats I've owned have been gentle layed back creatures. And, over my lifetime I've encountered many different breeds. Some act sterotypically, others on the other hand act completely different from what their nature might emply. Or I've had cats hate my guts, when their breed should be well-tempered.
I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. You miss out on knowing a lot of great pets that way. However, its not my job to judge how you feel on the subject of cats. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. That's why its called an opinion after all. I simply posted my own personal views on the subject. As long as you're respectful with your chosen dislike then you aren't going to encounter a problem with me.
