Has any one seen this movie? We rented it this weekend and it is now my favorite movie. I have children of my own so this movie really hit home for me. I was crying my eyes out by the end. The movie did leave me with some unanswered questions though. Like, the police came to his house but then it never closed up if he got into trouble or anything. And he killed those other girls too so that was probably written down somewhere in the book or in his house. I really thought they were going to catch him the way that he kept holding onto that charm and the girl even said that he got careless so I figured her sister would find the charm in his house. Oh man, that is such a great movie!!

I JUST bought the movie and the book from ebay. I also bought What Dreams May Come as it's a movie that is similar to this one. My coworker said she read The Lovely Bones and she thought it was better than the movie with a different ending so I am excited to read it. It's been a long time since I've had a good book to read.

I finally saw the majority of this back in Feb. on HBO. I haven't seen the whole thing, but I have seen most of it. When I do catch it on, it's hard to turn off.
It is a good movie. I thought it was going to leave me bummed out for days, but it didn't! I do feel for Susie and her family. Especially watching as Susie looks down on her family, knowing she can't be with them anymore. :( Really shows people how crazy this world can be, and how you should make the best out of the time you are given with your loved ones.
But it is a good movie. I'm hoping to get it on DVD eventually.

I have my own copy for this movie because it was on sale. I had my doubts at first but I know Mark Wahlberg is not the type who makes movies that really nonsense. But when I watched this - I was so glued to my seat. It was heart breaking and I like how it was interpreted - that justice always prevails. Mark was so beautiful in taking the role of the father who lost her daughter. And Stanley Tucci was amazing. I really hated him in this whole film.
Beautiful film.

I have not seen the movie but I did read the book. The book was very good and I am sure the movie is as well. In the book the sicko gets his just rewards but I am unsure how the movie ends. I felt the pain and anguish of the family all through out the book and the way that it broke the family apart as well as brought them back together. I am going to have to rent the movie on Netflix. Happy MyLotting!

Lovely Bones was really a great movie! and i really don't think that it got as much press as it deserves.
but i'm really not sure of your question that you was asking. (about unanswered questions)
i thought the movie played everything out perfect. it did hit home for me as well. and i think this movie should be a prime example as to not to trust anyone. neighbors could be strangers as well. how do we really know them, you know?
i honestly found myself getting upset that what was going on in the movie, but this is somethings that happen in real life.
i'm really glad i get to see this movie!

The film was based on the book of the same name. Both are good, interesting, and they have their fair share of philosophical implications. It's cool that you liked the movie and you connected with it emotionally. In the film, I liked the visual interpretation of the "in-between". As for your questions, look it up in the book! It's supposed to feel unfinished, I think. That's what I felt when I finished the book. (Oh and: ICICLE!)

Its weird because I watched the movie after reading the movie and although the book was more detailed and helps you understand things better the movie to me was a lot better. I really enjoyed this movie. As a parent it made me very emotional as well. In the book Susie was raped and killed and cut up but in the movie they didnt mention rape at all. Susies mother had an affair with the detective working on susies case before she took off to florida or whatever it was but the affair wasent mentioned in the movie either. There was one other thing that was in the book that was not in the movie but I cannot recall what it is right now. I do know that in the movie and the book the ending is the same. When I read the book the ending wasent justice enough for me. He deserved more cruel punishment for killing all those girls then just having an icicle hit him in the head and fall over a cliff and die froze in the snow.

I've watched the movie, I agree with you that it also leave me questions like how did she killed and why. It was heartwarming but I didn't like the animation stuff. I felt sad that her body were thrown away and the hope to find her body were turn into trash.

I have heard of that movie and lots of positive feedbacks. But I can't watch it, I can't bear to watch or read stories like that. It will only make me feel sad...

When I heard about this film coming out I went out and purchased this book. I remember being in high school years ago and other students kept doing book reports on this book. I wanted to read it then, just never got around to doing so. The book was better in the film, about 10 years or so go by in the book, and it just seems like a few days in the movie. I suppose the pacing was somewhat of an issue to me.
I do like the movie either way still. It's a sad movie, and I was pretty much constantly bawling through it. The relationship that Susie had with her father was really close and touching. The effects were eye catching and fun to watch, but at times overdone. A pretty decent cast all around as well. Good film, just make sure to have a box of tissues ready!
