Hello,my dear my lotters!
When I said to my daughter that she needs to read books(for school or just for her general culture),she answer:"Why I need to read?I can find everything I want on the internet!"
I told her that internat can't "talk" for you, when you're walking with your boyfriend!About what are you talking,if you don't read nothing?
"About internet, movies or music!" answer my daughter.
So...what do you think? We still need to read (at least for our general culture)?

Of course. Not everything on the internet is true, first of all, and it also gives you very short and summarized answers. So reading still makes sense, since it is the only way to really develop your language skills long term.

@puccagirl: I agree. Sometimes info that we get from net isn't true. It's only good to use net if you want the latest news ... books are for in depth reading.

Internet, no doubt, has become the information highway, varrying volumes of information useful for students, researchers, marketing, businesses, and so on. I use the search engines on the internet for my business work too, very helpful. But, still, from time to time, when I need to find certain specific information and data, I have to get to the books, journals, and handbooks.

I love books. I prefer books to e-books or reading things off websites. I like reading something I can touch and smell. There really is nothing like opening a new book - it's like the world is full of possibility. I will continue reading and purchasing actual books and, if I have kids, I will urge them to do the same. It's a fun experience and I'm sure, in 10 years, it would be like nostalgia.
I must say that, the way things are going nowadays, our culture might be abandoning actual books. Who knows? There's a wealth of information on the internet, but let's hope books won't be obsolete.

No matter how we get improved in the domain of technology, no matter how are effective the new methods of reaching the information, books still need to be read. There isn't any invention that can take the place of the book, or even creat the feeling that a book creats while reading it. It is true that books are old ways to transmet information, but that doesn't mean that they stopped playing their role in life anymore, which is all about, not only enriching our culture, but also about improving our spirits and our ways of interpreting things in life, and why not life itself by giving it different meanings!
I can't immagine a life without books. They are the incarnation of humains' thoughts, emmentions and ambitions on earth!
Have a nice day.
