Boneless chicken wings are the hot new trend. I'm just curious how the food industry debones a chicken wing. I say it's impossible and companies are just using processed chicken parts and calling it chicken wings.

Hi, BlueGoblin. I have no idea what the companies do to the chicken wings. I know that I used to work at a plant industry that deboned the chicken and did some of everything to it. I wished that I had this answer for you, but I don't.

It's called "mechanically recovered meat" and the process is truly disgusting (it involves something like whirling wire brushes and other dreadful instruments of torture). However, when it's dosed with a gel to hold it together and various chemicals and MSG, reformed into something like a chicken wing shape, covered in spiced breadcrumbs and deep fried, who is going to know the difference?

I really love chicken and my favorite part of eat is the legs because it is very easy to be eat. Well, regarding to your discussion? I think they use a electronic gadget to debone the chicken wings because chicken wings is one of the part which is not easy to be eat. The bones are too tight with the meat of it. The idea of deboning the chicken wings was really good because at this case we can able to enjoy more eating. Beside they can able to use in the meat of the chicken in other purpose, when it's already boneless.
