i want to connect a CD writer and a DVD writer

i connected a DVD writer and a CD writer together in my computer. It detects only one. I put one jumper to master and another to slave. Onle master is detecting. If i removed
master drive it detects slave and if i put both it detects only master. Please somebody
help me. thank you

You could try separating each device with different IDE channel.The DVD drive on a primary channel and the CD drive on the secondary channel. Or try replacing the cable maybe something wrong with it.That's all I could think of right now.
