to volunteer or not to volunteer?

I live a really really really small post, and I'm a stay at home mom. I would like to find a job eventually but my experience is limited to raising kids and running a household. I started entertaining the idea of volunteering about a month ago. Have yet to act on it but I really would like to eventually. I see that it can be a very rewarding experience if given the right oppertunities. Here most of the volunteering positions are not so appealing. They need help at the thrift store which a friend of mine who volunteers there herself said it's miserable. All she does is laundry all day (washing the clothing donations that come in). I have enough laundry of my own to do at home. I do volunteer with the girl scouts during the school year but I'm begging to hate it as the den leader never keeps me informed and barely ever calls or emails irregaurdless of me asking her to several times. Is it really more hassle than it's worth? I'm begging to think so. Do any of you volunteer, if so what and is it rewarding?

For me, being part of a volunteer group is a very rewarding thing. You will experience being used by God in his masterpiece of loving and helping others. Though you feel tired, and exhausted. You will never forget the feeling when you see someone smiles back from you and said, "thank you for helping me or us." One of God's commandment is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The art of volunteerism profound here. It is more to help than to receive. The worthy thing to do, is to give yourself to others. It is the art of life. To live to help and to love to live. It is your freewill to volunteer, conviction to help without anything in return is from the inside.

You really have to set your priorities first. When you volunteer, note that you will be not paid for your time. Reading your post though, i see you actually needed a job, but you can't them them straight because of your lack of experience. I would say you just might need to find a job that would suit you for now, and when you build your career... and build your knowledge and experience, that is the time you can transfer to a better job/work.
