Indonesia and Malaysia are in dispute. As an Indonesian, I am very sad because of this. We live today seek peace rather than hostility. Anyone who started this feud, if we can live in peace. I'm eager, Indonesia and Malaysia live in peace. What do you think about this problem. I want to know the opinion of all members of Mylot from any country.

I am Papua New Guinean and we share common board with your country. I do not want any feud between these two countries and we have good economic and bilateral relationships. If their feud gets worse we will be affected so I am praying for peace. We are all living in a global village and any disputes will affect us one way or another regardless of where we live in the world. We must fight for peace. There are alternative ways to find solutions to problems. Advocate this.

I am an American living as an expatriate in Malaysia since Dec. 2006 and what I found on this issue is actually a constitutional issue about defining a race related to a religion. In Malaysia, Malay constituted as Muslim.
This issue won't take long between Malaysia and Indonesia because they all can refer back to their holy book. The only thing now is misunderstanding that had led this issue to regional level of neighboring countries.
That is my view as an agnostic person who had also many times traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Like a nature life of a bone, will never break at the same broken point in future.

Yes, I was shocked when I read the news on our evening newspaper.
It is really sad that we have been together hand-in-hand all the while
and yet this things have to happen. We should learn to forgive each other
especially in this holy month. I hope this will end soon and we all can
live in peace again. Only peace can bring greater future to our economy.
All the best and 'Selamat Hari Raya'

Yes, I really want us to live in peace. Indonesia and Malaysia need each other. I am pleased to receive a response from Malaysians directly. I became relieved, that the people of Malaysia also wants peace. I do not want to be war. May this holy month to make us all become more patient and forgiving each other.

Did you notice from survey held by LSI from 10 of Indonesian 4 of them don't like Malaysia in normal situation not like today. If situation like this the percentage will be higher.
So every time our citizen arrested, kill and send back home with disability because been toucher there, not official there don't nothing but sending them home with many reason there is no justice for them.
Every time Indonesian now they fellow citizen treated like that the hatred seed grow. There is still many problem they made like Ambalat, Sipadan and Ligitan stealing. Even our terrorist also product of Malaysia, remember Dr Azhary, he is Malaysian.
We all have our nationalism inside, if government not do any thing to return our dignity. The people power will.....

Is this the Product of Nationalism of other Asian nations? sure, we have NPA, Moro Rebels, but i believed NONE of them had majority hate against other Asians. what has happened to our common cause instead we started thinking too much for ourselves.

As we know, malaysia is not once to provoke indonesia, they did it in Soekarno era and now they do it again, and this time they goes outrages.
I think malaysia already calculating for their future since they're not too rich in their natural resources, therefore they are trying to make a claim, especially to the country borders that rich with natural resources.
And once they succeeded, it so sweet for them, the taste is like honey, and why not do the same method again to Indonesia.
And I think malaysia is not smarter then japan, japan can build their fortune in the middle of poor of natural resources on their land.
But the worse then that is, Indonesia is not smart enough then malaysia, Indonesia is rich with all fortune, but can not use it wisely, otherwise Indonesia prefer to sell it to foreign.
So, how can live in peace if such 2 dumb and the dumbler sit together side by side?

You know what? sometime peace can be achieved with firmness. You can see history when Soekarno did a psi war with his slogan "ganyang malaysia" and the results is malaysia did not brave all sort till Soeharto era.
But now leaders of this country are extremely soft, we can be a friend as a friendly neighbor, but when your neighbor spitting on your face would you just say "oh that's ok, I'll take it without hesitation since I'm afraid you will not share your bananas with me" is that is?
No no, my friend, firm doesn't mean war, but firmness, once again, firmness, need to take due to our dignity as a freedom country.
Peace can be achieved by "eliminate" the dumb and the superior megalomania country.
Otherwise you are just an "indon" for them.
You get my point now?

hi indahfth as I have friends here from both Indonesia and Malaysia I do hope as an American that peace can reign again, and both
countries forget whatever caused the feud in the first place'and live again in peace.this would be a lot like half of my country feuding 'with the other half, so unnecessary and much better to live in peace and tranquility. I know I cringe when I see my lotters from America running down each other political parties, as we are still all Americans no matter what political party we chose.

Hello my friend. It would be hard for me to comment because I never know the real main cause of the dispute. Maybe there's some internal problem between the two government's sides.....of course this is political problem.

certainly war only make pain and disaster for every citizen. we are the real victim of the war. while the president or the king maybe is not really affect at all. we will hard to find some food, to make a business or maybe just to have some fun playing in the park. I hope there is no war at all. But even so, I support the government if they prefer to war to defends our rights. we know that Malaysia often against our rights.

As I answer to other similar discussion which started by adhyz, I prefer to solve the conflict with diplomacy rather than war. I love peace. After all, war is never good whatever the reason. War will never make us happy. I support the government to reach the resolution with Malaysia by diplomacy. However, if we can't avoid war, I will stay to depend our country. What ever Malaysian said to Indonesia, I will faith till the end for Indonesia.

Indonesia and Malaysia, more than just close proximity. More than just neighbors. For generations there have always been human and cultural exchanges between them. There are similarities in the folksongs and dances, speech, dressings, religion... I have lived in these two countries to experience these. Why would two muslim brothers of Indonesia and Malaysia be in dispute? Would the benefits from a dispute far outweigh those from a regional cooperation?

Yes, I regret very much this dispute occurred. We are a predominantly Muslim country, Muslims love peace. And I do not find here. You are right, there is no benefit from this dispute, but I hope that Indonesia and Malaysia have become increasingly familiar as this dispute.

the truth that he was not informed of the situation they are living Indonesia and Malaysia. Many times these problems are generated because of our leaders, and all the people has nothing to do, and instead do not have to agree with it. We must pray for peace, so that nothing will happen, when will humans learn that violence does not solve anything. This reminds me very tense situation that we are living in Latin America between Colombia and Venezuela, all of which generated by the troubled Venezuelan President Chavez.

Indonesia is very close to Malaysia. Malaysia should respect it's neighbor. From my personal view Malaysian present government does not know how to behave with elder brother. Malaysia is fully dependent on foreign labor specially on Indonesian workers. But Malaysian's government behavior on Indonesian people is very bad. Almost everyday they are deporting hundreds of Indonesian workers by force from Malaysia. That's why Indonesia is not happy on Malaysia. I think Malaysia should stop it.

dear indahfth,
i dont understand why leaders of each country gets so proud and would not just back up a little to avoid conflict? too proud, too greedy! that is what i think.
we don't want our country's economy to go down. and when there are conflicts, especially armed conflicts, everything will be hampered.
we want peace everywhere. let us pray for a healthier and more understanding leaders who knows how to talk .. and communicate really well for the good of each country.

With the advent of globalization, it is necessary for some countries to unite together to compete with the world. Both Malaysia and Indonesia are both members of ASEAN which the Philippines is also a member. It's important that we remain united and conflicts should be avoided. If it occurs, it is to the best interest of the entire ASEAN that these conflicts be resolved the soonest possible time. Everyone is aware of the old adage that "United we stand, divided we fall". Going against each other only shows that we are not united and we are easy target to countries who would like to take advantage of that weakness. I hope everything will be resolved through peaceful means.

This is very sad. No one likes to see or hear anyone in dispute, or anyone living in hostility. I've been to both Indonesia and Malaysia and they are both very wonderful countries. I can only hope for happiness and harmony for these two countries right now.
