Is cashgopher safe enough?

Hello All
I know the mylot admins are going to delete this discussion but I have my doubts with cashgopher. Do you think it is safe enough to install the cashgopher software and let it work on your computer in the background. I mean to say that while you are working online with the software working in background, is it safe that the software is not accessing your personal information and passwords.
None of us have seen the software's coding, none of us know what the software is doing, all we know is that it will be running all the time in the background while you are accessing your important websites of your online banking, paypal accounts, email accounts and all that stuff. There is no way you can control what that software is accessing from ur system. What information the software is sending from ur system.
I know the website is from mylot, but i still have my doubts. I am not encouraging anyone not to join it, just I am asking for an opinion from you. Do provide me with some feedback. But i'm still waiting for a while before joining and downloading that software.
What do you think.....
Thanks

I believe that you are thinking in correct direction,Because Even I scared of installing this S/W because I am not aware of what this software will do as it runs in background.

I dont think anyone here has enough technical knowledge so that he/she can look into the coding of the software and what it does, what information it access. I think all people here are just trusting mylot admin and blindly installing the software.
I think even if the software is safe, still i have questions on why to install such a software. If the software runs in the background, it will definitely use up some of the system resources and i still can not compromise with my system performance of just a few cents.
So for me, it a big NO to this software and website. Hope this make the point clear.

Besides myself, I have seen a couple other who are not going to..And I hope they don't delete this because people need to see different point of views of this site. What bothered me is you are downloading software and when you are using the computer, you are making money..What makes you think that whatever you do isn't being watched? I do online banking and paypal and all kinds of personal things. I know that someone who has the skill and really wants my info, they can probably get it. But this cashgopher, I feel like just makes it easier for someone to get my personal info. So I am NOT downloading it...Better safe than sorry..

I would like to participate as well, and I agree it would be very easy to make a few bucks, but for the same reasons I have chosen not to. There are others sites out there that offer the same thing and I have always felt it would be better for me not to give access to my computer so easily. I hope it does work out for the people who give it a try, though!

I trust mylot so I guess I can trust this one too. That's how I see things but I commend you for being cautious. I think they wouldn't risk mylot's reputation for security issues with this new online earning tool/program

Well I think mylot is pretty confident in their admins and they can really guarantee us security. That is how I assume it but if in any case its better to hear from Miss GoAskAlice about this

I know that should not risk mylot reputation, but the question that I am asking should have cam in the mind of every second user here, then how did mylot admins missed this concern of the users. And why did they not addressed this issue before the launch. Every individual in this information age is very much dependent on information and the critical information about users can be used against them to any extent. So beware.

I have installed the software and i will keep an eye on it. If i see any malfunctioning I will delete it. As they have said it is just for checking the usage and some other things that will help some companies to improve or something like a survey.
As long as mylot is behind it. ALL IS WELL!!!

it is good that you trust mylot admins so much, but let me tell you one thing that if a trusted person cheats you it takes a long time to recover from that, so beware.
decide wisely....

I will still hold the admins responsible if something goes wrong, because it is the admins who have given the third party a right to access mylot user's information. If the admins would have cared about the security of the mylot users, they would have not allowed third parties to access user's information. If the admins really care about the users, they should take full responsibility if anything goes wrong.

For me, I use processor intensive converting programs plus I'm constantly downloading (for hours because I'm on dial-up) so this isn't for me. Not to mention I would hate for any of my warez activities to be flagged.

I did not think in these lines. The fact that mylot has introduced this was enough for me because I did not anticipate any problem from mylot. It did not strike me thta our passwords etc.., can be hacked.
Now while I WAS istalling it it suddenly decided to close.Probably I have to use internet explorer.Shall wait for more info now.

I think you should think with your brains rather than heart. First of all there is no proof yet that the software is safe enough, that is the first line of concern.
And even if we assume that the software is safe, than is it a good deal to compromise on your system performance for just a few cents?
So think over it and decide accordingly....

Seen from one angle all tracker software are potentially dangerous, and I can understand your doubts.
In my case I use an Internet Security suite which gives me the option to permanently block or allow, or to make either decision whenever required, when a program tries to connect to the Internet.
The Internet Security suite says gopher.exe is safe. Since I set the security level to a Custom policy, it asks me whenever gopher.exe tries to connect to a specific IP address. Anyone using this method can then check the IP address using the various Internet tools, or at the very least checking its location. Then a decision can be made on whether to allow or block its attempt. If a decision is not made it will still connect after the set time for a response has elapsed, but only on that instance. Any similar future attempt will result in another prompt.
The above method ma be a hassle, but I think it is worth the effort.

How could they delete this if Admin Alice herself doesn't know a damn thing about it too
IF they do this, delete this topic, then there must be something really wrong with the site. you know none of us had known the background of mylot since it was deleted on wikipedia.org. i guess the staff responsible for it thinks that we can easily fall prey to it since we trusted mylot.
then, i would believe on what the other youtube guy has talked about mylot. and that is freedom of speech is gone.

I think the website is more suspicious than the amount of trust mylot has generated. If the website would be something else like writing, sharing pics or something else then it would have been great success.
but with the download and install software, its a big NO from me.

Well I am also doubtful about that cash gopher software. Although mylot is a trustworthy site but still I would like to wait a lil bit to get the complete review of cash gopher's software. I really hope there is no catch in that software and it prove to be loyal.

although the software proves itself to be safe, but still i dont think that the deal is good enough to compromise on your system performance for a few cents.
so choose wisely even if the software is safe enough.

I was also very excited around 6 days back when cashgropher banners first showed up on mylot. I thought that mylot will come up with something really good and may be we will be able to make some decent income from there. But I dont think that casgropher lived up to the expectations.
Best of luck for your attempt.

If it all it does attack on online privacy, the anti malware software are bound to pick it block it. As long as you are comfortable that somebody can collect your browsing data, I think you can stick to cashgopher

Well I see why you have your doubts because it is strange to download some software on to your computer, but I think that we will just have to wait and see as for me I downloaded it and I don't think that I will go to my online banking because you know what if it does steal information than I would be out of luck completely, but I decided to give it a shot since it is by mylot and I do trust them a lot. Well hopefully it makes some good money because I need it for my college books and stuff it would really help, but yeah like I said for now I won't be going into my online banking or anything like that. Anyway hope it turns out good other wise a lot of people would get mad at mylot and that is never good because mylot has a very good reputation of paying their members.

I had the exact thoughts racing through my mind when I heard about it.
It seems kind of risky, and I'm one of those people that don't like to take chances. So I decided I'm not going to try it. I know MyLot is a trustworthy site, but I don't know who they worked with to create it. It's on the skeptical side for me.
Have a great day! I hope the best comes out of your decision.
