My one dog, a German Shepherd, sheds a lot. Usually just in the spring once it starts getting hot out. This year, she had her spring shedding, and then around August it got up into the 90's here and she shed even more than this spring! I brushed, and brushed, and I swear there was such a pile I could have crocheted a whole new dog lol. She's still shedding like crazy even though I'm constantly brushing her. I can't even keep up with the dust bunnies she's creating!
The other dog we have is a little Shitzipoo (a Shitzu-Poodle breed.) She doesn't shed at all, and that's supposed to be a benefit of her breeding. Well, that might sound good in theory, but it brings it's own problems. Instead of shedding, the hair matts up if she's not groomed constantly! And where her collar goes, it tends to matt really bad. Given my druthers, I think I'd rather put up with the shedding, at least when they shed they're getting rid of the old hair and cooling themselves down some.

We have four dogs here, three with long hair, one with short hair. All of them shed, but our Lhasa Apso/Saint Bernard mix sheds the heaviest all summer long. It seems every day I find his hair on the carpet, and it's everywhere.
Our Labrador/Golden Retriever/Poodle mix sheds a bit too, but it's not anywhere near as noticeable as the other dog. The final dog, a German Shepherd mix with possible very low percentage of wolf mix, only sheds twice a year. In the late summer and very early spring. The final dog, a Labrador/Beagle mix sheds very lightly, but it's year round I believe.
I once tried this vitamin called Shed-Defense.. It was odd the way it worked, because it prompted further shedding of all the loose hair. Once the system absorbed it completely for six weeks, there was far less shedding by my dogs, the second and third ones mentioned. I'll have to buy some again and see if it'll work on my dad's dogs, the first and fourth ones mentioned. Particularly the first dog since his shedding is covering everything in fur...

Mine sheds hair too. I tried de-shedding shampoo and it helped but it's kinda pricey really. I am going to try the BARF diet heard that dogs given the meal that they have in the wild are healthier and sheds less than those dogs eating the keeble.

i'm not sure how much hair your dog sheds, but mine sure leaves a lot of his on our floor. lolXD
i think hairfall is normal for them too~
while our dog was growing, his hair was long and silky. but he started to lose the long strands little by little, and now his hair is short. but we love him all the same~^_^
