LOL. No offense to the vegetarians. Honestly, I haven't been able to witness yet - when a vegetarians fart. But earlier this evening, my best friends and I were having our dinner. One of them, Cristine is active in Mountaineering activities and I guess she could say that she has almost met all kinds of peeps.
Then she told us about her experience of a fellow mountaineer who happens to be a vegetarian. And by chance, they share the same tent along with 2 other friends on their camping week. She told us that on the firste night, she just woke up smelling an unpleasant "fragrance". She couldn't figured it out. Then the two others also woke up wondering what was the smell. Then they look at the one member who was still asleep. LOL. And yes, the smell was from their vegetarian comrade. We were all laughing from her story because she really had this can't be figured expression. I really wonder how she endured for the rest of the week.
But I'd like to think that all of us have some foulest smell fart moments. I know it all depends on what we eat.
How about you my fellow mylotters, would you agree that vegetarians have the foulest farts?

hi totallyundecided I got the weirest picture in my mind of people gong around asking others are you a vegetarian? then when they reply yes, the asker goes up and stands near the vegetarian waiting for a far, but probably that would get the would be sniffer into trouble I am sure. Since I do not go around finding vegetarians and having no way to sniff out how foul their farts are without getting in trouble, I have no way
of finding out at all.

Considering that vegetation (fruits, vegetables, and grains) is a high fiberdiest and a high fiber diet creates excess gas, it would make sense that a vegetarian would fart more. Whether each fart smells worse or the more potent smell is from the increased amount of gas being released; I really couldn't say.

Not really, it depends also with the person's body.
Cause the foulest smell is actually the toxins in that
one person's body, if she doesn't have farts..well
she'll have some pains within and stuff like that.

True. The culprit are the toxins.

Well, I don't know about their gas, but I can say that their actual smell and health concerns me. I have a friend, and his family and he are vegetarian because of religious reasons, but they aren't all that healthy.
They have all had anemia (low iron for those of you who don't know), and my friend always smells, and I don't know if it is because of his diet or if it is because he doesn't shower enough. All I know is it's fowl.
I am not a vegetarian, and neither is my boyfriend and my family members and none of us smell like this.

Hi, rogue. I am really curious - what religion is your friend? I know that Seventh Day Adventist doesn't pork as well as Islam but to be a strict vegetarian - wow.

You are right on the money. Yes, my friend is Seventh Day Adventist, and he does not eat any meat.
I usually don't have a problem with being vegetarian, but if you are going to do it, make sure you do it right. Make sure that you make up for the protein that isn't in your diet. My friend and his family, they don't eat properly, and that is a big problem.

I really can't help laughing just by reading your post. I must thank you for bringing a smile in to my face. My morning started a little bit of gloomy and I really need some cheer up. So your post is kind of really funny and I can't even wipe away my smiles. Discussions like this is always funny.
I think vegetarian and meat lover people has same kind of bad odor when it comes to fart. It's like some bad toxins that needs to be push out from our body. It's even more funny that you called it fragrance...hehehe...lol.

Ahaha. Yeah, I was laughing too when I made this one. The expression in my bestfriend's face was hard to forget.
I am glad that my post was able to cheer you up. At least your morning started good and we have all the rest of the day for a good laugh.
Lol. Pardon my term. Just couldn't think of any other words related to smell. :D
Hope you'll accept my friend request, kababayan :D

I'm glad to say that I'm a non-vegetarian. Although its not that I don't eat vegetarian stuff. Its just that I have non-vegetarian food more often than vegetarian stuff.

I think people with diarrhea have the stinkiest fart!
I once tried a a diet rich in soy and soy products, as well as gluten. And the nect thing I observed was that my tummy was filled with gas when I woke up.
And the rest of the day, I just kept sneaking to a private place to release those "energies"
I didn't stay long enough to know if it smelled really foul. All I know is, foods like that tend to affect the digestive system initially as the body tries to adjust to the content of the food.

LOL!!! You made me laugh, T. Yeah, I know the feeling of being able to release those farts when you know you're having diarrhea. Awful!

Hahaha, yeah I know the feeling. You're never sure if nothing comes along with the fart. Something solid.....

I am a veggie, but I think it depends upon what you eat. If you eat too much of acidic stuff, spices, and /or pungent stuff, chances are what you said will be true even for others. :) Generally, vegetarians do tend to use a lot of such things to flavor their food. :) But it has nothing to do with our digestive system processing it any different from yours.
Thanks for the laughs anyway. Needed it badly. :)
