An open source alternative to Facebook: http://www.seoconsult.co.uk/SEO-News/facebook/diaspora-eyes-an-alternative-to-facebook.html Does it sound like a great idea? Or something that people could really mess up? Or do you just love your Facebook so much you wouldn't even consider looking at something new and different?

Not enough information to compute. ........but if I have to move, I want my own room............with a window! *heads to grocery store to start collecting boxes*

Problem with moving to a new social site, even if you like it very much, is that not everybody you like will follow...

That is why I am both at MyLot and Gather, friends, as well as money. I have friends on SideTick as well, but it is still mostly the earning potential there. Swagbucks has no social interaction, but does have nice money. See why I am too busy for facebook?

I signed up for Gather, never went back. And I have lots of invites for Sidetick, but there are just too darn many sites...

hi dawn with facebook and mylot and mysurvey.com I have my day pretty well spoken for so no I think I will not take anything new on now. I am still getting caught up with my friends on my lot right now so I had bes get caught up and comment back and resolve a ton of discussions too.I am really disappointed about cash gopher as I hate to put new unknown software on my elderly computer.

I am hooked to myLot. I dont show Facebook my face. The day myLot changes its colors, I might decide to visit other social sites. If at that point of time, I feel another site looks better than myLot, I might increase my visit to that site. As of now, to me, Facebook looks like some bibliography. :( I hate it!

I like PA, and if myLot should choose to be purple then script should be in white. I hate orkut and its dark colors. :(

then Purplealabaster would surely be the one to cause it, turning mylot to purple

I'm sticking with Facebook . . . only because I am the type of person who tends to stay in one spot!! If everyone suddenly kicked Facebook to the curb and went on to another site . . . then I just might migrate (out of necessity). I'm so familiar with Facebook that most likely I won't venture out of it! Same with myLot . . . I looked into other myLot-ish sites, but it's too overwhelming for me, so I just stay here. And same with the one survey site that I go to. So loyal, aren't I?

Yup, plus even if you moved, everybody you wanted to keep in touch with probably wouldn't move with you.

The site doesn't launch until September 15th, but you can look at it then.

I am on Facebook and I rarely log in there as it is so I doubt very much I would take an interest in another social site! I think that if we become familiar with a site and feel comfortable there the majority of us would be reluctant to change.

I don't like Facebook. I was more of a myspacer but I don't use either anymore... and I hope this new Diaspora will not become another trend.

I love the idea and I will surely be checking the site when it launches in mid September. A little spice in the competition for the best social networking site

Facebook is easy to use and every friend I know is using it. If its that good or better, why not try it
