Cash Gopher Question

So, I installed cash gopher today, and it all seems pretty fine and safe. But, I'm not sure how they make money with just a little process running in the background of your computer. For some reason, I'm getting pop ups now. Is this because of Cash Gopher? Is this how they make money?
