Unemployment due to global financial crisis is not just mentally and emotionally exhausting but most of all, financially killing. In this situation, is there any means to survive yet enjoy a satisfying life? Be resourceful by cutting on non-essentials and getting creative. Possible ways to be done are 1. Plant a garden and grow your own vegetables, 2. Follow manufacturer's maintenance instructions, which may prolong the life of your appliances, and 3. Change out of your good clothing as soon as you come home, a practice that will keep them looking new longer.

Definitely. I have been unemployed a year back and indeed it is a bit frustrating especially when your little one asks for a simple thing and you cannot give him that little thing. After that experience, I have promised myself to always motivate myself for my son. But indeed living on less can definitely be rewarding. You get to appreciate a lot of things and changes your perspective on how you spend your money on things that are not that important.

It's never been a rewarding case on my part but it is something that i learned to live by. I mean if the going get tough you can't just play tantrums and demand good thing from life. Of course you have to bend wide to cope with life and I tell you it's never been easy. Life nowadays is full of hardships and it's suffocating actually.
But it shall be easy to overcome this kind of heavy atmosphere if you knew how to adjust yourself to your condition. If there is few money to spend then don't spend too much. You got to save for tomorrow or else you have nothing to spare.

Thank you for those pieces of advice. Even if one has a job, these tips can be very helpful in order to save more. One just needs self-discipline and determination to follow the plan. :)

i think I understand what you were trying to say, and actually do believe it is also correct. I agree, actually that everything you said is quite positive too. We all needed the positivity sometimes, and Well, it does help us stay focused, and grounded and still know that we can get through tough times, we just need to know how to adjust to the situation.

I know the feeling of trying hard to find a job but there's just no opportunity out there for you - even any job. It's a good idea to start living below your means while actively searching for a job.
Perhaps a business would also be good, but still it's a risky thing to be in if you don't have any support or income to cover basic expenses on a monthly basis.
The tips that you have shared are quite good, but still it is really best that we don't lose hope of finding something for us and living how life should be with a little bit less expenses while doing so.
Nice post.

These are great tips but right now, one really needs a job to pay bills and stuff. Bumming around won't change your ways and will only make you even bummer than before. I'd rather be productive by working rather than bumming.

I suppose the rewarding part is that you begin to appreciate your necessities more than your wants.
You begin to understand how resourceful you have to be in order to survive. You either learn to live this way or you really become more and more active in creating an income.
I work online all day while still looking for work hoping the job lands some time soon.

Planting for your own food is not a bad idea. People in the mountains can live by themselves by doing that. They don't need high tech computers to make their lives very fulfilling. It would be good to look and set your priorities and goals. To list what are the essentials things you need and what are the "just accessories" which consumes much of your allowances.
