Nowadays there are different types and brands of bottled drinking water, there's the purified, distilled and mineral water. I am just wondering which of these types of water are really safe and healthy? Studies say that in purified water all harsh impurities like chemicals, chlorine and copper are all removed, thus making it really pure water. But they say there disadvantages of it because it does not anymore contain calcium, iron and fluoride which are all important for our body. The same goes with Distilled water and studies also say that it's good for our body because it flushes out all the inorganic minerals and pollutants that accumulate in our vital organs. As for Mineral water, they say it's more healthy because it contains minerals like Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium. Some studies also say that it helps lower cholesterol and high blood pressure and it's good for our cardiovascular health.
At present I'm using Purified Water because Distilled Water has no taste and I don't like the taste of Mineral Water either. I've also noticed that juice and milk doesn't taste good when mixed with mineral water. Which of these types of water are really good, safe and healthy to use???

In my view, BOILED WATER takes the FIRST place.
In older days, people used to boil the water to certain degree ( boiling point). now, in this fast world, we have various ways of purifying water.
REVERSE OSMOSIS, U-V TREATED, etc. but if u take a mineral water can, u can see the date of manufactured and date of expiry. Use that can-water before the expiry date. Otherwise u can see some germs inside the can itself, even if the can is unopened (closed).
Otherwise u invite the germs to enter your body.
in your house, u can fix water purifier machines/plants/equipments and use the water and use the water in a day or two.
another best way, as i said earlier, boiled water, the best
boiling the water means, the water should boil, at the boiling point (bubbles comes),
for 5 minutes and cover it with a lit. later u strain the water and drink

Even though there are a lots of machines to make the water purify, distilled - just like you, I still believe that boiling water is still the best. The old school of making your water safe to drink or what.
But hardly, no one does it that much anymore since the convenience of mineral water has been offered.

I wouldn't drink distilled water. It's mostly used for cleaning or some other things. Between Purified and mineral, there isn't much difference. Purified should have all the toxins and things taken out of it, mineral water should just have the minerals added into it. The minerals do have a weird taste to it which is why it would taste funny when mixed with powdered milk or juice.
I personally use filtered water from the tap. Some mineral waters taste funny to me and i'll drink it if it's the only thing around.
But if you're talking about bottled water, the plastic in the bottles are more harmful to you then the water could be.

I think it's confusing if we really had to find the best because if you will ask me I am much more comfortable drinking purified water than any bottled water out there in the market. Maybe because I find the taste not bad or just plain okay. I am not even sure if there still calcium or fluoride on it. I am just wanting to have a nice water to drink.
So far I am happy using purified water and i think it's best suited for me and my family. We have been drinking it for along time and we have no plans to switched to another one. I think people have different taste and they want what;s best for them.

Although I can certainly appreciate a great bottle of Evian water, I do want to add that there is so much publicity and marketing with all forms and processing of water.
What happen to the days where water was just water, I will pick up water every now and again but I do have a filtering system at home as well. So I personally do not drink the tap water anymore.

i used purified water, you might want to try different brands to check out the taste, some has different types of filtration's that might be causing you not to like the taste.

I won't drink distilled water because everything that's beneficial has been distilled out of it; besides, it tastes bad! Mineral water, while probably the healthier choice of the three, doesn't taste great either. Personally, I wouldn't drink any of those 3 unless there was no other choice. Spring water is tops on my list if I have to buy a bottle of water. Springs are checked for impurities by the health department, and have natural minerals, etc in it. I have well water here at my home in the country. I had the health dept check it, to make sure it was pure and healthy. It passed with flying colors, and the health dept said that it was loaded with minerals and trace elements and very healthy. Now, if I drank purified, OR mineral waters, a lot of the things that make water healthy have been removed. It's still water, and it's still healthy, but it's not as loaded with the trace elements that spring water or well water has.

I think that Mineral and Purified water is the healthiest for people, but I could be wrong.

In my house I boil water and store it and so far I have found that to be the best. Buying mineral water every day is not feasible , and we do have a water purifier and it is good. But it needs to be upgraded and cleaned every now and then for it to be perfect.I do use it regularly as also boiling water, cooling and storing it in bottles...all the best and happy mylotting

i think mineral water is more safe and healthy because its the true source of minerals in the world...!! most of minerals can dissolve in the water and it does not affect any on the taste of water if it is in balance quantity..,but water ll be salty if minerals value is more in the water..!! but at last i must say that mineral water is the great source of minerals...!!

Hi PinkMelody
Natural spring water is good. Safety is through removal of harmful elements but unfortunately the needed ones are also removed by such process. If you are on balanced diet you need not look to water for such minerals like iron and calcium. Flouride content should be checked as it may damage your enamel and bones
