Discussions start when you reply to comments

Don't you agree? Yes, I can post a discussion, a lot like this one. Get a bundle of comments. Read them all. But it's only after I reply to a single responce, and that someone replies back, do I feel there's a conversation, a discussion.

I absolutely agree with you. The discussions starts when the author starts responding to different responses posted by other users. Not only that, those who responded should also comment on the author's comment, thus, a true discussion. I hope this is not against the guidelines but what people don't know is through discussions like that can they really earn here in mylot. I've proven this when one lazy day, I was too tired to respond to topics here in mylot. A certain topic provoked me to respond and the author commented on my response. Our discussion went on up to like 5-6 responses from each of us. I responded to like, only 15 discussions that day. That's why I was surprised that at the end of the day I got more than half a dollar. That's why I kind of feel sad when the author does not want to continue the discussion. They comment to your response like, 'yeah I totally agree with you! happy mylotting!'. The comment of theirs means that they're already closing the discussion between the two of you. Anyway, it's their(author) prerogative of course if they don't want to comment on the comments of the users on their(authors) comments to their(users) responses. Whew!

True! I like discussions that go on because it's like you're having a real conversation. And it also makes the topic interesting. Whenever they thank me for my response, I'm like, 'ok so you don't want to continue the discussion with me'. That's why it's called a discussion right? It's for you to discuss your topics woth other users, not end it when they've responded.

That's the idea. ...now let's see how long we can keep this wee discussion going... ...even though we'll probably end up going of topic anyways lol.

"I totally agree with you! Happy MyLotting!" - that's a classic. I've had several discussions that would last a good 5-6 responces haha. It's fun to keep the chain going.

Definitely. I like to post a discussion once per 2, 3 days. At least once the responces stop coming. I've tried to post 2 at a time, it's difficult keeping up. Expecially if you have a lot to do in a day.

@shibham.. I know what you mean. I avoid those users and their discussions as well. why would anyone WANT to bother responding once they realize that that person never has any intention of ever speaking to you or commenting on your opinion. There doesn't seem to be any point. I started deleting those of them that have somehow made it on my friends list- only to clog my email box with dozens of discussions that they start and never respond to. :-) Who needs them anyway?

I'm thinking about this myself, I don't have the time to go through dozens of emails a day lol

It takes two to start a dialogue. If you think that a good dialogue is beginning, take it and run with it! It will up your earnings and create some great discussions. You are right though. The best conversations come out of the responses. dl

I completely agree with you on that one...We can all have posts & replies but it doesn't become a conversation or a discussion until the starter of the post replies back.

And they don't have to reply to every single discussion. I certainly don't try to. If I did, my life would exist between the kitchen, my bed and my laptop.

Yes, I absolutely 100% wholeheartedly agree with you! Otherwise you may as well just call it a question and answer session. Discussion/conversation - requires back and forth banter.. and some people just don't get that.. That is why 80% of the time - I will check whether the discussion poster has a habit of replying to any previous discussions they may have posted or NOT.. If it is the latter. I rarely will even bother to respond to the discussion. Unless it is one that really grabs at me and I think other readers could benefit from what I have to say. I have and will continue to remove people from my friends list that are non-responders.. because to me they are of no use. :-)

That's about right. Other than the people who argue with themselves on the bus, you need at least two people for a discussion.

That is what makes maylot what it is, as without comments to responses, then it really isn't discussing. I won't start any discussions, unless I can take the time to comment back, and besides that is the only way we earn from my discussions. There are some that will start discussions and then leave them, and to me they become dad discussions because they aren't willing to keep them going. Now, there are discussions that don't get any responses and that happens, but those that start discussions should at least take time to comment back to the responses they receive. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I suppose myLot becomes "MayLot" during the month of May doesn't it?

Good point! Or else it is just a question and answer forum like Yahoo Answers or something like that. Did anyone notice when we press the little button on top, it says "New Discussion" and not 'new question'.

Yeah, it's the reason I left, Yahoo Answers too. It got very repetitive...and boring.
