Have computers made us become lazy or are we just doing things quicker?

You know things are created for reasons and it always had a negative effect on life when not use properly. So the other percentage of the effect of it on us will ultimately rely on our decisions.

It is wrong to say that computers made us lazy.On the other hand it made our work easy and quick.Because one sits before computer for 20 hours it does not mean he has become lazy.May be he is not physically active in his movements. But he is very active mentally all the 20 hours. Therefore one has to take physical exercises regularly like going to gym or playing some outdoor games. That is all.

I think like every other good thing in our life, we can give computers the power to affect us negatively. If we take some of that time we are saving and put it to use with our friends and family and creative processes we will actually have a great deal of benefit from computers. I think if we are lazy it is by choice.

Unfortunately I have to say yes..Then again if I had speakers on my computer, I could crank up my playlist and dance away..lol Then again, though I sit mostly all day, I am earning money and working by writing articles..So I guess it is up to me, to make myself get up and get moving occasionally..

I don't think computer makes us lazy. I'd prefer to call it as computer gives us many easiness in our life. It is true that computer has many features that will minimize our efforts in gaining many things, but if we think carefully about it, we will realize that it is not laziness that we got from our computer, it is a helpful tools. As an example, it is true that from our computer we can earn much money instead of working, but will that money reach your wallet by it self if you're only sit still in front of your computer? I don't think so. You'll have to go to the bank to make that happen. Another easy example is you'll never can have your computer to feed you, you still have to eat using your own hands or you'll be hungry if you don't. Then again, you'll never can have your computer to bathe you, you'll burn your computer if you do that, you still have to go to your bath room on your own, turn on the water, and take a bath. So, I think it is not true that computer makes us lazy, it that is happening to somebody, then the person has been lazy from the start..

I don't think that computers can be blamed, people are just lazy. You don't need to give certain people reasons, example would be the family who lives next door to me he works and after all he does is have parties + drink to all hours of the night. Does he do this because of the drink? No it's because he's lazy and anti-social. He pays children in our area to tidy and do his garden because he simply can't be bothered to put down his drink. Computers just get the blame because you sit down to use one and it was the same for the television.

Computers made us become both ways--lazy and doing things quicker. We had become so adapted to computers that it became our way of living virtually. I spend mostly over a half a day on my computer online. This is the only way I can earn a few pennies per day, although I am unemployed.

I am agreed with both that computer made us lazy and also it is very useful machine for us. I think now there are much software is available in market that makes our work easy. So I think now the peoples are becomes lazy because their every works can be possible with the help of computers. So they become lazy.

Sweetie, it has made us lazy. And it's making kids lazy as well. It might be helpful in school or college projects, but it still makes us lazy. We cannot think and do things for ourselves anymore. TATA.

It depends on how you make use of the computers. There are some people who just spend the whole day and just play games. And that is very lazy!

IT'S BOTH. We became lazy when computers came into our lives. But, it also made our lives easier and more convenient. Just for example... one good example... in doing "RESEARCH". In the old times.. we still need to go to the library. Travelling to the library already consumes a few minutes to an hour. Next, we need to talk to librarians and get our library cards and then borrow books; again consumes a few more minutes. And then we need to read books or periodicals that most likely pertains to the topic that we want to research. A single topic would consume us from an hour to a day... just to get the information that we want. Nowadays, we just open up the computer, type in what we want to search in our favorite search engine.. then in a few minutes or even in a few seconds... vast information of the topic that we want are all spread out before our very own eyes ready for the picking.

To some extent,it made us lazy. It takes us much time to suffer online,doing nothing. But if we make good use of it,it do help us to do things quicker. It's really a good way to get the information fast.

I think that computers have made our way of life much simpler! I love computers and I would be totally lost if technology suddenly was no more! I think that we are just at the early stages but technology is improving all the time and I know that there are futuristic homes being considered now whereby you can do things in the home purely by voice activation! Science fiction is definitely turning into science fact! I think that everyone is different and we all make different choices. I agree, being on the computer too much can be detrimental to your personal life but I ask myself what personal life? I don't have a family and so I have a lot of time to devote to the Internet and posting away on My Lot. I think there needs to be a balance anyhow as it's really tempting to just sit on the sofa and pile on those pounds whilst pressing a button to cater for our every need. Thankfully I have a strong interest in regular cycling and swimming so I won't be piling on the pounds anytime soon. Andrew

I will also spend as much time as I can in front of computer.. because, things are lot simpler.. and we have complete information on the web, we can socialize without going out.. Amazing our we panic when something doesn't work or we no longer have access to it. Imagine for a second that you lose your cellphone. Oh my goodness hysteria kicks in. However, without the items it sure is much easier in life. Did you know some banks now you can take a copy of the front and back of your check and it directly deposits it to your bank account. OMG no more trips to the bank - See comfy and lazy too.

I think, with computers, we can do a lot of things that we cannot thinking. We can do everything quicker and quiker, learn more things about the world just by surfing the internet. I think computers are useful and necessary.

I think it depend on how people to use computers.With the development of our society,more and more people use computers now.Some people use them to resolve problems in theirs work,because they can save a lot of time.On the contrary, some people just use them to chat or play games,they will make people become lazy.So I think we should use compurers in a reasonable way,then we could get benefits from them.
