Friends, I have started renovation work of a portion of our old home. It has a kitchen, which was kept locked for about 5 years.
Today on opening we saw swarms of nasty cockroaches there, the smell nasty.
To drive them away and kill them I tried to spray, ‘HIT’, this is supposed to be effective for flying insects too. But it failed to work. I wonder what they ate during these years, as it was kept locked?
Do you have cockroaches, how you kill, drive them away?

Well usually insecticides like baygon will kill them in minutes. I think you have a nest of cockroach there, and there could be other places in your home where they could have nest also. So calling an exterminator would also help to control their numbers and keep the population low.
If you are on a tight budget, just kill them all with baygon lol, the only problem about insecticides are their eggs. The shell is immune to insecticides on wont kill the small roaches inside, you can also try using Electric Pest Repellants which could keep them away from your home. I hope that helps

Thankfully our mobile home doesn't have them. When I was younger, I lived in an apartment that had the boogers and I freaked one day and sprayed the area where they were and the live one with WD40. It worked. They suffocated and I never saw another one. It was an accidental solution. That happened to be the only spray that was nearby at the time. Apparently they hate the stuff.

OOOH. I REALLY REALLY HATE COCKROACH! :| Everytime I see a cockroach on the floor, I ran swiftly because I always encounter when I am stomping my foot to stray away the cockroach, the more that it gets near me. :S And I also don't like its foul smell. Even though the cockroach is just small, it's smell tend to spread and I don't like it! Regarding your question, we sometimes use a slipper to "whack" or "strike" the cockroach but not that much because the blood will...you know, it will come out. :S IN SHORT, I HATE COCKROACHES! :| =))
But you know what, it's also good to spray insecticide, but not in big amount, for it's not good in our health.

I do not have cockroaches, at least not that I have seen. I have heard of two things. 1) mix powdered sugar with plaster of paris and it will kill them when they cannot digest it.
2) put down boric acid powder in all the corners and dark places, it will poison them but you do not end up breathing it or ingesting it so much.

i think napthalene would help.. but really you'd be surprised as to how these insects/pests survive the worst of conditions ever.. i think they live on dirt not on anything else! hahaha :D
but hey.. yuckiez i hate roaches.. and you know what they say right, if you see one cockroach, chances are there'll be hundreds of them in between the floors, and the walls.

Last year, I was living in a home where there were just a lot of cockroaches. Every night when it starts to get dark, the kitchen counter will be full of them and being the only guy in the home (the other tenants were girls and they were super afraid of cockroaches), I had to be the one to hit and kill them. Fortunately, those were just small cockroaches. I honestly have a phobia for huge cockroaches that can fly because when I was still a child, one huge cockroach actually climbed onto my leg and the feeling was just tickly and gross! So there in our home, the females started to unclog the clutter in the kitchen, and it did help reduce the number of cockroaches but they were still there. So I had to live with cockroaches for the past year, but thank goodness I have now shifted and I'm now living in a place that is free from cockroaches.....but alas, now I got a mice problem to solve.....

There is nothing worse than doing home improvements and find cokroaches as an added bonus. Where there is one, there is sure to be many more. there are so many different products on the makrket for getting rid of them, but I think that sprays are most effective. Thankfully, i can say my home is cockroach free!

Hello professor,
Ewwwwww....cockrockes, I hate them!
We do have them in our house in the village, especially in the toilet yuckk.... But we also have lots of chicken as a pet lol. And we have 5 hunter cats in total. They are very good in keeping them away from us.
But in your case, mmmmm I started thinking if you could spray some sort of glue on them? Imagine that! And then see what happen hahahaha...just an idea.
Have a nice day :)

Holy macaroons! If that happened to me I might have fainted. I hate cockroaches and my husband told me that I'm a cockroach detector because I could smell one even I could not see it yet.
Okay, with that being said, I always clean our cabinets every week (esp under the sink) and spray it with insecticide even if there isn't any living creatures there. just to keep them out. Honestly, our house is clean and sealed away from insects that might come from outside. (we have window screen and door screen) The problem is our ceiling isn't properly sealed and we live in a low cost subdivision.
A low cost subd. have this one row (street) that is sharing this long roof and ceiling. so, our roaches is actually a visitor from our neighbor.
you just have to keep your household clean. ^.^ roaches are NASTY!!!!!!! eiw!

Cockroaches - always a menace. Use those marker chalks that you can use to create a boundary so that they don't cross.
