Does circumstance give us an excuse for our behaviour?

Do we blame things on our past- or should we be able to break the cycle. If you cant break the cycle - does that mean you are weakwilled or fated?

Yes the past has made me who I am today. Some things I am proud of and others not so proud. The things I am not proud of, I try to change, sometimes the change is so difficult, and it seems like a losing battle. it does make me feel weak.
