For The Guys-Do You Cry Easily

Some people say that men who cry easily are weak or unmanly i have the complete opposite opinion i think men who are sensitive and are able to cry openly when they learn of a sad event or tragedy are showing a very big heart and compassion for these things. Of course anyone who crys for no apparent reason can seem to most people as weak and childish, but that's not what i meant by crying "easily". So many men (including my husband) will do all they can not to show this emotion in front of others , thinking they might be perceived in a negative way.so tell me guys, are you ashamed of crying in front of others or do you see this as a positive trait?

I don't cry easily but at times I cry because something touches my emotions to the point of tears. I let my body do what it wants to do. If it wants to cry I let it cry.

you said if something touches your emotions to the point of tears you just let your body "do what it wants to do." Does it matter whether you're alone or not. or do you hold it back when others are around?

If I'm alone, I will cry audibly and hold nothing back. If I'm around people I will not cry audibly but will wipe the tears from my eyes and blow my nose a lot. I guess I feel that I must be strong when with other people. I feel I must maintain my composure.

Yes, that's what i meant when i said most men find it "unmanly" to cry in front of others. but i don't believe it shows weakness to do so,maybe to other men it does , but to women, it just shows sensitivity. thank you for your response

We were created with the ability to cry to be able to handle stress, sorrow, compassion and even strong feelings of happiness. The problem is that some cultures have influenced people to hold their feelings back, but I have seen it has actually been getting better during the latest years. The greatest man who has ever lived, Jesus Christ, cried openly. So did others we read about in the Bible, king David, Joseph and the list is really long. And they were not weak in any way. It rather shows they had normal human feelings and they were strong enough to show them openly. They reacted in a healthy way and were probably more balanced than many others who didnĀ“t.

Beautiful response and very true. Maybe if more men realized this they wouldn't feel they were being weak or unmanly.Afterall, who of those you mentioned were weak or unmanly in any way?, none of them, just the opposite.
