Hi celtic~ I do remember some of things. I remember when I was
in kindergarten my mom would give me oreos wrapped in tin foil
every single day for my snack with the milk they gave us! To
this day I hate oreos and milk! As for grade school, I remember
in 5th grade starting a new school because we moved back to
Yonkers from Long Island, NY. I had an incredibly fun teacher
named Ms. Suozzi and me and my girlfriend would hide in
her car after school and she would give us a ride home! I don't know
what that was about, because I was only 10 at the time!lol

I think we all have a favorite teacher. She sounds nice. You don't like oreos and milk now? That's almost unAmerican. Hehe

I remember bits and pieces of those earlier school days. That was quite frankly another time to say the least. In fact, it was a much simpler time, where I did not have to worry about much of anything. I think its rather funny that as children, all we want to do is grow up. I think we do have to really grow up to really appreciate what we have when we are children.
Still, it was a fun time. There were lots of fun times, fun friends, everything was really great during those days. Nothing sticks out too much, but it was really an entire barrel of fun. Everything was really great during those days. Sadly, they are long gone, but I always have my memories, even if they are extremely vague and barely held together.

I so agree. I try to tell my grandkids that too. They don't listen. I remember some things but not much. Too long ago now.

I remember a few things about my time in grade school. I remember that my kindergarten teacher was very nice. One time after all the children were done playing with the toys they left everything on the floor. Since no one was picking it up, I helped up up the toys. My teacher saw and said I was a good girl and gave me a Mickey Mouse lollilop. It was starwberry flavored.

I never went to a kindergarten - I had two grandmothers at home! But I remember grade school. Unlike most of the kids I loved to go to school and be with my friends. And after the classes we had fun before go back home. I still see people from my first school and this is very pleasant for me.

I was wondering if I did attend kindergarten...
My mind blurred when I think about this. Maybe I was too timid and introverted back that age. Time really flies, and I feel I grow up all of a sudden.
I also wonder that if there is any change in kindergarten textbooks. I barely remember what I have learnt then, or I just fooled around all day...

I wonder why you don't remember. Were you tramatized back then or what? Hmmm. I am getting older and the memories are getting faded but I know I did go. I was rather introverted back then also. I don't remember what was taught back then. I do recall that my grandmother taught me how to write my name, address and so forth.

I also want to know why I had no memories of that period.
In fact, not only kindergarten period, but also some other years in my life have gone for no reason, I'm 24-year-old though.
Luckily I don't feel too bad about it, because no matter what happened, it happened in the past, and whether I remember it or not, nothing is gonna change.
I just want to enjoy today.

I remember in Kindergarten my mom dressed me in dresses all the time. Shortly before school started, on a Saturday morning, I was watching cartoons and saw a commercial for DippityDo (hair gel). I went into the bathroom and saw the Vaseline jar. To my 4 year old eyes it looked like DippityDo. I used half the jar on my almost elbow length hair. When my mom saw, she screamed. She called my grandmother to come over and bring every solvent available. Nothing they did got the Vaseline out. They took me to a hairdresser who couldn't get it out either. They ended up giving me a pixie haircut. Basically a Buzzcut for a girl. Hence the need to make me wear dresses every day so people would know I was a girl.
For 1st grade, I had a broken ankle. My former-father had taken me to Indian Princess camp for the weekend. Us girls went out to play while the Dads rested. There was a big pit-trampoline. Way too many girls were on it at once. I got knocked down and a bigger girl jumped on my ankle. My screams brought many Dads running. We hadn't even been there for half an hour. I got put in the back of the station wagon while my Dad and another father drove around looking for somewhere to take me. My mom was so mad when we got home after the weekend. That's right we stayed and he didn't call to let her know. I remember her yelling that he broke her child and wouldn't be trusted again.
I remember that 2nd grade started on my birthday a few years later and Mrs. Inchak sang "Happy Birthday" to me.
For 3rd grade I had stitches and a splint on my right thumb for the whole year. That was the year they taught us cursive too. Another injury attained while in the care of my biological father. It involved going up a flight of stairs in socks with a glass bottle of Dr Pepper.

hi celticeagle oh do I we did not have kindergarten or preschool as we lived on a f arm in 'South Dakota and it was in the early 1930's I was in grade school I do not remember all the teachers names but Miss Goodenough and Miss thornton I did remember, snow boots, wet coats, mittens and gloves drying on radiators, the smell of wet woolen
in our classroom I still remember that odor.oh yes and the old cow dung of some of the boy's boots. wow. I remember fifth grade and MissThornton who hit my knuckles with a steel rimmed ruler and cut them open, going to my doctor dad's office to tell him what she had done. He waS furious and took me back to school. He yelled at that woman and told her if she ever struck another child like that again he would report her to the police. she really believed him too and never again hit one of us.My only offense in her eyes was not making my ms round enough but she is the one who gave us IQ tests and made them skip me to the seventh grade then later I skipped the eighth grade too. High school was a blur as we were in the midst of the Second World War and everyone was worried that their sons were going to be drafted and a lot of kids just volunteered to get it over with. oUr graduating class of 16 had only two boys both of whom were four F.

Your dad sounds grand. And that teacher was something. I realy think you should write your life story. It would be a best seller.

Hi,
I still remembered about my kindergarten life.
On my first few days school, I was crying looking for my
mother and I knew that my mother was waiting me outside the school.
I was lucky to have a caring teacher who always give me
an encouragement and after a week, I managed to get used to
the situation and can mixed around with some friends.
On my final year, I even got 5th rank in class and I
received a present from school principal.
That is a great achievement for me..

I can't remember much of my kindergarten time. All Ican remember is I was so small, so are my friends. We used to queue to play in the playground. We get free meals every friday, fried rice, noodle, or porridge. I love that time so much. averyone tried to eat as fast as they can so they can ask for more before the meal run out.
I never done my homework, when I'm in the kindergarten and my teacher never mad about that. lol. I kinda feeling sorry for that. We were so stupid and silly back then. the boys are evenget pup during the lesson, lol. evev I can't remember whose my friends was, I can still see them in the picture.
I think thats all I can remember. but sure, kindergarten is fun...

I remember only a few things from kindergarten and nursery school, but I remember them vividly. I remember being sent to the corner in nursery school because I kept telling the teacher that the letters of the alphabet don't have to go A-B-C-, etc., because letters could go in different order (I could already read). She said I was wrong and sent me to the corner. In kindergarten, I remember the teacher asking us whether our parents voted for Nixon or McGovern. Only two of us raised our hands for McGovern (I was one of the two). I also remember getting in trouble because I let my male cousin (who was in my class) come into the bathroom with me. (We took baths together, so I didn't think it was a big deal).
Amazing the things that stay with us, isn't it? But ask me what I did last Tuesday, and I can't remember! That's why it is so important to make sure that kids have positive experiences in their formative years, because you never know what lessons will stay with them--good or bad.

I remember some moments as far back as Pre-School.
I remember some things in each elementary school grade including kindergarten but how accurate my memory is is another story. I remember getting hit in the face with a gate in pre-school because the teacher wasn't paying attention. we were on our way to the beach to swim and that morning i played with my mothers lipstick and put some on. i remember the teacher telling me i couldn't swim because she said i had cut my lip, but i kept saying it was lipstick.
I remember nap time in kindergarten because we would never nap. we'd talking with each other instead. Little moments here and there, for the rest but the grades are a little fuzzy for me.

I do remember my kindergarten. I was going there without any shoes because I didn't have any many to buy one. That's what I remember from my Kindergarten.

I never went to a kindergarten. My first day in school was when I went to grade one. I still remember that first day in school. I went for a fight. My teacher greeted us with a god morning, and instead of answering good morning back, I said "ma'am good bye, I'll go home now."

i made my first best friend in kindergarten.
then in gradeschool, i can say, i was still a student back then. a kid who actually studies and had earn her an honors ribbon in 1st grade. but on the 2nd grade, i was already beginning to get attracted to tv and cartoons and i guess i was already left to study by myself. i guess i started slacking off there.
my teacher said that i was so near in becoming part of the honors list it was a little disappointing but i didn't mind it. kindergarten and gradeschool were all about playing games during lunch break, although there were girls' game and guys' game there were a lot more uni-games Lol. and i liked playing them all.
I can tell my parents, especially my dad isn't so please with me not getting honors anymore but i take it back by just studying and not getting distracted too much, and i'd always tell them that i'm a class representative and part of the top of the class. that made them happy.
one thing that i can just laugh about and be stupidly proud of is, i was good in math in my elementary days, which gradually deteriorated when i reached high school.
