why can't i open my file folders in my flash drive?

I got frustrated.. I saved the wedding photos of my best friend in my flash drive and all of a sudden.., the folder was renamed without me noticing it.., and a suffix .exe was added to folder name and it won't open.., the error message says the path does not exist or is not a directory... Does it mean my files were erased due to a virus? Is there any way that I could retrieve those? I'm not a computer geek and i really need help..thanks..=)

u can scan it with anti virus with updated one, it is old type virus, so some free anti virus can recognize it, and for your file, some of that virus type don't erase your file, it is just hidden, in folder options, in view type, sets show hidden files and folder, and unchcek the "Hide Protecting operating system files" but before that make sure your computer is free from virus first or it will happened again

ahmm actually.., my computer doesn't even have an antivirus.., because the last time we've installed one.., it corrupted the computer.. i don't know how.., but it happened.., so we have to reformat our computer and never installed any antivirus again.., i'll try your advice though..thank you.=)

Based on experience and I readings from the web, once the folder has an ".exe" this cause by 'trojan' virus. Your files is there, just hidden. Try to manipulate your folder options and select "show hidden files and folders" or you can try the rest.

i wish i could do that.., but it won't work.., i hope there's a way that i could remove the virus but retrieve the files.. i hate this virus...huhuhu...
