i had already suffered from that infection twice now..the last one lasted only 3 days and only affected my one eye. The first one lasted a week or more because i followed myths in dealing with it (dew from leaves early the morning - it turns out that the dew water is dirty causing more infection).. the last one i rely on science, i take extra dosage of vitamin c 1000mg (note if you have problems with your kidney don't overdose vitamin c 500mg or lower is enough).I use hot patch (towel wash in warm to not so hot water and place on the eyes it relax it well)..then "eye mo red formula" (don't over use 2x a day is enough)..

Sored eyes are caused by a virus. I don't exactly know what's the name of the virus, but it is a virus. A dreaded virus, it can make you blind if not managed properly. And it really cause discomfort. There is no medicine for virus. Unlike bacterial infection, there is no medicine to cure a viral infection. What you can do is to strengthen your immune system. Once your immune system boosts up, the virus will just go away from you. The best force to use to fight viruses is our immune system. Strengthen it by taking Vitamin C. And last, prevention is better than cure. Always wash your hand with a sanitizer and don't ever touch your eyes or the surrounding area.

You have asked for tips to manage sore eyes. But before that you need some ideas of sore eye, its cause & what it is. A sore eye means a red eye. The most common cause is acute bacterial conjunctivitis. Other important & serious causes are acute angle-closure glaucoma, iritis, corneal ulcer. Other less serious causes are viral conjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, subconjunctival haemmrohage, episcleritis, scleritis, blepharitis. Besides the above mentioned causes, allergies, irritants like dust, smoke, make up material etc, eye strain from prolonged reading, computer use, fatigue, dry eye, crying, lack of sleep etc may cause eyes to feel sore. So depending on the cause, the plan of management varies which may be anything from aggressive to a trivial medical treatment. So detection of the cause and subsequent confirmation of diagnosis is very important before the starting of management. This is possible only by a person specialized in the field of ophthalmology. So you should consult with an ophthalmologist for advice & act accordingly. Though from your description it seems to be an attck of vernal conjunctivitis, I would request you not do any self-medication as it may aggravate the situation.
