I understand the + and - rating system and I make sure I rate discussions I enter. When I enter a discussion I always read the previous remarks. Am I supposed to rate them also or is that just between the author and the commenter? There are some replies I would just love to rate and a lot of the time the author never goes back to rate anything. Can someone get back to me on this please?

I think that anyone can rate any discussion or response. I've always done so anyway!

Hello JudithP, I rate only the best response to my questions I ask Mylotters. I use to rate other repsonses in answering question/ replys that I send to people. I figure this way is better and less time consumming. Sometimes I feel what I pick may not be the best answer to the question. Some of the my answers got deleted because the question was deleted so therefore my rating was probably deleted too. Thanks and have a great day and Labor day weekend Sincerely Unique16

I'm not to worried about discussions that get deleted or if my rating does too. That's not why I'm here. But every once in a while I answer someone's discussion and so has another reader and his answer is good. I just wanted to know if I could rate it when it's someone else's discussion.

I will rate discussions, responses and comments providing they have content, as their are some that are only one line and to me they aren't worth rating as one liners have no substance and just don't deserve a rating one wy or the other. I usually rate positive, as we are all trying to bring up our ratings, and when others rate negative for no reason then it hurs those that have really treid to do their best. Now the only negatives I give out are those that post referral links in their discussion, as that is a big no no, and the discussion would be deleted anyway. I onoly respond to those discussions that I can give an answer to, otherwise i just leave the discussion and move on. So, it really does help if you rate the responses as well as the comments. I rate all responses on my discussions, as well. Good luck to you and hapy mylotting.

Thank you Rosekiss. That's exactly what I needed to know. The only responses I don't answer are the ones that have nothing to do with what I wrote in the first place. If I'm writing about hospitals, I don't want an answer about airplanes.

If you rated any article in positive or negative.. then it will also effected on your star rating which reflect on your name besides.. so always rated every and each article whom you reply.. and others reply.. then your rating will increase or decrease very soon.. i always rated every and each article in positive..

Hi Judith, You may rate any discussion, response or comment you want (except yours, of course). But you don't need to rate all of them. Me I use to rate positively only the responses that are really useful to the topic, and negatively the responses that have nothing to do with the topic, or that ones which are against mylot discussion guidelines. But most of them remain unrated. You can't tell if the author rates his responses or not. You can only see what you rated.

Thank you. Sometimes other reader's answers touch me, maybe not the one who started the discussion, but it does touch me. I thought it would be nice to let them know in a small way that someone appreciated their thoughts. Even if they don't know who it is.
