i read an article on yahoo this morning that said that designer goods are over priced by up to 1,000 %. WOW! and all just for a designer name. I went to a very upscale mall a few weeks ago and i have to say that i was shocked at the prices! i just dont have $300 + for a nice scarf. The article went on to say that even though there are higher prices, people still gobble them up. what about you? is the price more important than the name? or is vice versa true.

Well, if you have ever noticed, everything these days seems to be way over priced. It never seems to amaze me the cost of everything. If you have ever done Inventory like I have done, you would learn just how high of a markup a lot of the items are, and it makes you really wonder. That is why there is so many people out there constantly trying to find ways to start their own Businesses and sell items so that they can be in charge of how much something is. But getting back to high ticket items... In reality it is the name you are paying for. That is why you go to Discount stores that sell higher class clothing, etc. or wait for clearance sales where you can get something for practically nothing as well. Or go to Thrift stores in high end areas, and get hardly worn name brands for dirt cheap.

I totally believe it. It's insane how much people will pay for "the name". And I don't know how they do it or WHY they do - I sure can't and don't want to!! We have malls out here with upscale store "sections" - and I literally walk by not going into any of those shops. The price tags are insane. Seriously, even $30 for a scarf is a stretch for me!

I don't have $300 for a scarf either. I don't have that for an entire suit or even a new wardrobe. I don't own anything designerl.

Price is usually much more important than a name. However, if I can find a name that is cheap and second hand I'll pick it up. I love my rummage sales, I get mall stuff at prices I can afford! Too bad it's easier to come across kids stuff than it is adult with out it coming from a consignment shop.

Cheapskate... Just kidding. For a scarf? I wouldn't pay that for a dress. A wedding dress maybe, other than that nope. Not just because somebody's name is on it.

I think the name is not so important, even though I am a sucker for certain designers to be honest. But sometimes the quality of high end items can really be much better than non designer things, so that is the only pro as I see it. I own a few designer items, but I never ever paid those insane amounts for them! I prefer to buy them on Ebay or in consignment stores, and save a bundle!

A name brand doesn't impress me. I'm not going to pay "through the nose" for something that has a particular name on it, when I could get something much cheaper that looks almost as good as the one people pay hundreds for. It's crazy.

At this time I know I cannot afford any of these. So I shop only for low cost brands but try to find something with quality as well. However, someday I would really like to have an LV bag. The real one and not a rip off. Apart from the name you are also paying for the quality. Another thing, some of these brands can even have a higher value after. Especially if these are included in the special editions. But it doesn't mean that if I can afford it all of my things would be branded, I'm not the type. Unless if i'll be a millionaire hehe.

I am really not a fan of designer goods. I always go for quality. I do admit that some designer goods are really of high quality, but the tag name does not really counts a lot when I go shopping. I do sometimes buy expensive items, but I make sure that this items will lasts for a long time. I find it ridiculous to spend thousand of dollars on items that I will be wearing rarely. I still go for the quality but fairly prized items.

I was never a person to go for designer's goods. I bought my stuff because I needed it, I like he color, it fit me, it looked good on me but never because my friend bought it or because it has a famous designer name on it. With clothes, I often rip out the label, cause it makes me itchy. So, $300+ for a scarf is a definite no for me.

I am not a person that goes for designer's goods. I bought goods because I needed it, it looked good on me, I fit me, and the price was reasonable. $300+ for a scarf? Definitely a no for me.

I would only buy a designer stuff if I really LOVE the product. If I will really USE the thing. If I will just buy it and after a few months, it will just be stashed somewhere else in the house then, no. I am not really a brand conscious kind of person.

Its good to wear designer good but some don't look classy some look cheap if they wear it its how to carry the product. Your paying the brand name plus the good quality.

Hi, When come to shoppping,I don't go for those branded goods. Of course, the branded goods quality are good and some even have warranty cards, but I don't think it is worhty. I saw some people spent over thousand dollar just to get a branded handbag, does it worth? I better use the money for holiday or some other purposes. For rich people, that is fine, as they have lot of money and they are very concern about brands. Of course, for Branded goods the price is also super HIGH.

Rolls Royce car - OK! Designer jeans - No! There is a limit to sensible shopping. My favorite designer item to miss - plastic sunglasses with a fancy name. Have you seem them? Heck, they aren't even polarized! The case is more costly than the glasses.

To be honest when I have a lot of extra money I go for high priced designers. With that being said it's not like I have a ton of stuff. I usually do Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Coach and a few others like those. My goal is to get something Chanel because I have loved that designer my whole life. But that may take awhile. When I am running low on cash I usually go to the mall and visit Forever 21 or stores like that where the prices are extremely low (most of the time).
