I am using both a wired and wireless network connection and based from what I've observed, I can connect to the internet faster using wired connection rather than wireless. I think it could be attributed to the distance from the router to the laptop/wireless adapter. But I really believe that wired network connections works faster in terms of speed rather than wireless.

Basically wired and wireless can transfer data at the same rates. Well it only defends on what connection are connected to, and what peripherals are you using. You might find wireless network slower than the wired because most wireless Internet connection are shared with other computer. Just like Smart Bro and Globe Tattoo in the Philippines. But if you will compare those wireless network with a wired network of PLDT, it is much faster. Well of course if you are only connected in PLDT with a plan of PHP900+ a month. Their speed is around 1Mpbs. So wireless network like SmartBro and Globe tattoo is much faster since their transfer data at a rate of 3Mbps. But this 3Mbps in wireless network is not 100%,since you will be sharing this with other subscribers. Unlike in wired network, you get the speed 100%.

I've had experience with both, and as far as speed is concerned I prefer Wired over wireless. With wired connection I'm sure of getting speeds I signed up for. But with wireless connection which I'm currently using right now, the speed is limited to locations with good or bad reception.

I think that wireless is alot better as that way you can take your laptop around the house in any room that you like. Also if you have a friend that has wireless then you can take your laptop to their house and do all of the things that you like while you are there.

Well it really depends on your area. Wireless can be good for me. However, I have noticed a lot of the time, that it is quite hit or miss. Wired is the best way to go, but it really does depend what is in your area. Some places, I can get better wireless access. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Wired definitely. Wireless is prone to signal disruptions.

i would surely go for the speed...id like to have my time in the net productive with no hindrances...=) wireless and wired works fine altogether...=) but personally i prefer wireless coz i can roam around the place without having to worry bout the wires spreading across the entitre space=)
