Do you watch Project Runway?

I never watch these so-called reality tv series. I also seldom watch elimination competitions. But for some reason (maybe the oppressive heat and the bugs outdoors), I seem to be hooked on watching Project Runway. I think it's because I always wonder what they're going to create next. What I think really got me hooked was the one where they took party stuff and made outfits out of that stuff. Loved the metalic fringe skirt and the black jacket. Also loved the ribbon dress. (I love doing things with recycled stuff) The first one I would wear for a party when I was younger and had better legs, still could if I wore opaque tights. The 2nd one, we don't have anything that formal. I like it when they help each other. Toward the end, they're starting to get jealous and fight amoung themselves, some. I like it better when they're encouraging and/or help each other. I've been taking a bunch of white material and trying to make different clothes with it. I folded the white cloth in half. Both already made edges are at the bottom. I wrapped it around me and cut the material. The fold on the top, I can put elastic through and the two edges at the bottom are finished edges. So just the side where it comes together do I have to sew. I have it held together with gold safety pins. Reminds me of the celtic-style skirt I had as a kid with a huge safety pin and where it came together was all fringe. So has anything you watched inspired you to make something? Or do something? I used to watch some craft shows and some of them did. My husband watches DIY shows and it inspires him for his woood working project.

I love Project Runway and other reality shows. But I am really interested in the fashions that they make. Lately I have been making diy hair pins with flowers and such on it. I wanted to get into the habit of it and sell them on Etsy but I am not sure if I am good enough for it. I will just have to keep at it.

Maybe you should make some, take a picture, and ask people at Mylot for their ideas about if they think they're good enough to sell. Also sign up for the Etsy newsletter, they provide you with lots of ideas htere, too. If people here don't think they're good enough to sell yet, what would be their ideas for improvement? Lots of people here sell on Etsy. Also, I think you might still be able to send some to Etsy and have them critique them. I forget what program that is called, but if you look through different parts of the site, they may still have that. Then the people at Etsy can provide you with ideas to improve your ability. In the meantime, please do keep on practicing because that helps you to get better.

I have never been at all interested in any of the TV reality or competition type shows. However... for some odd reason I find myself watching Project Runway! And I'm not the least bit interested in clothing design or fashion. I think it must have caught my attention due to the creativity involved. It's quite interesting to see the designs these people come up with. I especially enJOYed the hats segment and thought these designers did a great job on the outfits to match the hats they were given.

There were a couple of the hats that I would wear, as long as they designed me an outfit to match it, for free, ha! I caught a re-run of a segment of the show and Tim was telling a designer the judges don't like 'stuff' added to the outfits if it serves no purpose. He said, "Edit! If you don't need it, get rid of it." Sounds like critiques on my writing, hahaha! Thanks for the BR..:-)

Thank you! I didn't really have time to be scared, I was more concerned in being sure my dog wasn't hurt and then finding someone to get the thing out of the house, hahaha. Afterwards I just plain had the creeps and was angry at the neighbor.

I used to watch lots of things on HGTV, but I no longer have cable, plus I am always here at the computer anymore. I do like to make things from "nothing" or recycled things. I even have bought packages of plain white T shirts and decorated them up. One of my favorite maternity tops was pretty simple like you are describing. I am itching to get creative again.

I have watched every season of Project Runway. Its great to see some talented people get the chance to show us what can be done for little money and sometimes working with others. I like the episode that they worked with garage, as it shows that many items can be reused. I don't watch a lot of reality television; however, this one on Lifetime is one I don't miss.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm really into the reduce, reuse, and recycle stuff myself, I usually have a few discussions related to those topics. Yes, they are very talented. Thanks for your response, I hoope to see you around some more.

I do get a little inspired by watching DIY shows. Project Runways has actually become on of my favorite shows when I catch it on. I don't have a lot of time to watch TV but my daughter also like the show and sometimes she will record it.

I guess it would be the shows about landscaping. I really want to do some landscaping on my yard and I got a lot of ideas from these shows.

Oh yes, I love this show, and it has inspired me to do some sewing as well. I mean, I was into sewing before too, but I get some ideas when I watch the show sometimes as well. So it's really a wonderful and really inspirational show if you ask me!

So what kinds of stuff have you made because of the show?

I have seen project runway in the past. it just isn't a show that i have that much interest in. Some reality shows just have more to offer everyone. i can live without this one and move on to something more challenging to watch.

Well, like I said, I'm surprised I'm into this one. The ones most people really like, I can't stand, like survivor because in a real survival situation, everyone has to pull together and I know survivalists. Most of us hate that one, But fashion really is one day you're in and the next day you're out. I like the sharpshooter elemination ones strangely enough, too. Competitons make more sense to me as elimination kinds of things than others. Take care. Each to their own show. Take care.
