Hi, An Ethernet problem has something to do with your motherboard. The problem can be a hardware or a software related. The DSL modem can be reset to its factory settings and then again configured. This method helps most of the times. Have you tried it? Thanks. God bless you

First, test your modem to your friend's computer. Then check your ethernet driver from device manager. If both works fine, then curse your fate, but if it's not then either replace the modem or replace your motherboard or buy a seperate ethernet card with drivers. Thanks Happy MyLotting!!

Do you mean struck by lightning? Then there is a possibility that your Ethernet, also referred to by some people as LAN card, may have been affected. In the past three years I had the unfortunate experience of having my modem and router struck by lightning. In the first case the current upsurge via the telephone line fried my motherboard. In the second incident which occurred less than three months ago, the motherboard was not affected. Nevertheless I had to replace the router, modem, and Ethernet card. If lightning was the cause it would be better to have the card replaced. Id it was built in simply purchase a PCI Ethernet card. I bought mine for the equivalent of 6USD.
