Do you take interest in politics?

Hi, It is not that there was no corruption at the times of Mahatma Gandhi. It is not that the administration was a big success then. Yet a person like Mahatma Gandhi gave up practicing law and returned to India to serve its national movement. He was politically conscious. In fact he was so conscious that he immediately identified the problem and channeled the movement in the most effective path. In today's times we, the general people are highly indifferent to both the domestic and the international politics. Most of us detest politics because of the corruption and sloth nature of democracy. But aren't we forgetting something here? It is not the polity that gets corrupt, but the people involved in it. It is not the democracy that is sloth but the bureaucracy that implements it. We are loosing more by detaching ourselves from politics. If we don't know our rights how will we protest when they are violated? If we don't know our democracy how are we supposed to improve it to be used in national interest? Do you take interest in politics? Do you think it actually matters? Thanks in advance for your participations. God bless you.

Honestly for me. I do not give a flying fig about politics or the politicians, sweetie. Yes, we have to know more for our rights. What is our rights? We don't have any. Either you are corrupt, friends with politicians or just as low and slimy as they are. I detest them and their little friends. The world will be a better place without politics and all the politicians. TATA.

Saphy don't be so goofy, You have rights, but you have to realize them. Politics have other things than politicians. Politics define the administrative structure of a country. Not everyone is corrupt otherwise the world would be a burning inferno. There are good people who serve as cogs in the wheel of development. Politics is so mixed with democracy that one may not survive without the other.

Hi, That's understandable. But it is a position where the whole world divides into two parts. One part hates the person. The other part just pretends that they don't hate the person. This has happened to almost all recent american presidents. The people don't understand diplomacy. Nor do they understand what is good for their country in the long run. They are in a position to deliver comments especially because that position doesn't involve serious responsibilities. If more and more people come to understand the subtleties of politics, the agitation will reduce significantly. Thanks. God bless you.

Surely I do take interest in politics because it'll shape the governing system in one country. To degage in managing political issues running in one country is not an easy way as opponents also needed to be part of managing and handling the world of politics. Taking about corruption, it relates with power of governing. Everybody is "clean" before they got power.

True indeed. "Every power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." But the good thing about democracy is that there are a few rectifying mechanisms. It's like a counter balance that prevents the government from turning into tyranny. It is because of this mechanisms democracy is said to have an automatic healing within itself. This is also the reason why it is said to have the optimum capabilities. Not everybody becomes corrupt after they got power. There are good people, good nationalists who values the country even more than their personal lives. Nationalism is a great energy, which needs to be revived. Education, that is capable of imparting strong ethics in our mind, is the sole solution to this problem. If we start educating our people now, things will be different in 5-7 years. Thanks. God bless you.

I do not too of an opinion when it comes to politics. What I detest is a person carrying on a long dragged out conversation and to find this person is not even a registered voter. Some people huff and puff all day about politicians and their views of what is wrong, but these are the same people that do nothing to add or even try to make a difference. I try really hard not involve myself in such discussions unless they impinge my overall rights.

Hi, I believe that if a certain person does things to keep himself alive, he adds value to his society at the same time. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, whether conditionally, or unconditionally, each of our actions is continuously contributing something positive to our nation. If however someone learns about his country, the value of his service increases. This is why we should learn what is going on in national politics, even if we don't actively participate in it. Thanks. God bless you.

Hi, That's a very positive way to look at it. Things like corruption is not attributes of politics. It's not that politicians are characterized with these features. We just give the responsibilities to the wrong persons. Since we stay away from politics, wrong people gets elected. That's why everything related to politics seems abnormal. Fools dominate over the wise. The rich influences policies to exploit the poor. Religion takes front seat when medical emergency arises. These are all signs of having wrong people in politics. How many seconds will it take to topple a corrupt government? They are outnumbered, for God's sake. But without sufficient political understanding, we are helpless, so we let them rule us for years. Thanks. God bless you.

i usually take interest by ranting in my blog and social networks. but it sometimes makes me tired. the whole thing is tiring that you prefer to be apolitical. as to the question if it matters. politics matters. a nation's political status defines how far it has made itself and its constituents vigilant and progressive.

Politics are actually one thing that I could care less about in my life. I am only one person and though I might be able to make a difference of some sort in the world, I don't think that this is the arena where I will be able to make a difference and thus it is something that has never really had a lot of impact for me. I could be wrong, but I've spent so much of my life being the way that I am that I don't think anything is really going to change.

Aw kiddo - there is something about Mahatma Gandhi that disillusions me. So I feel I can only do so much, and nothing more. Everybody compromises somewhere, Gandhi compromised on his home life. He was much too dominating with his wife. Somewhere I read about it and I was kind of - is this the person who is supposed to be great, or did media make him great? It was the need of the hour I guess.

Hi Getbiswa2000!. I really interested to the thing that happen in my country including political issues. Its really stressing to see government seem so nothing to make economic improvement while they have tool to do it, what lack is they willingness to work to solve the problem. Its seem they only care how to maintain their power in power circle, they not their people welfare. Its why corruption rate so high.

Politics interest me in many ways. I have always been looking forward of good governance everytime election comes . I see to it that i follow the news and get updated with what's happening around. But sometimes, im getting tired and frustrated, hearing the same promises over and over again, seeing the same news and most especially, realizing that year on year, life is getting more expensive. Politicians come and go, they debate on every thing their is to debate about. They acknowledge the common problem around but by the end of the day the citizenry is left to fix everything on their own. But im still a dreamer, hopeful that one day the systems changes and eveybody's happy.

As it is said, in a democratic process like election, the bad politicians are elected by the good citizens - because they do not turn up to vote! If only youngsters of every nation get more actively involved in their nation's politics it would be a boon! Each one of us are involved either directly or indirectly in politics of the country and it is only for us to be more conscious of our role in it. Politics is not something outside our lives - it directly affects our day to day life in a big way and we should be more pro-active to direct it to better goals
