my name wasn't given to me by my mom or dad... my uncle was the one who named me... ^_^ i haven't inquired as to what was the meaning behind my name though... but i knew that he simply wanted me to have the nickname JD. he thinks that it sounds cool.. LOL
My aunt named her 3 kids following the alphabet. the eldest is
Alvin... next is
Bernard and the youngest
Carla. ABC... ^_^
My friend and all of her siblings have "GRACE" in their first names....
like Grace Vicky or Grace Diana etc...
my other friend and her sibling's name all stars with E. and because her mother ran out of names starting with an E. she named her youngest EUDRALUCK. ^_^
if you'll be naming your kid or if you named your kid, what made you come up with the name? does it have a story behind it?

Some of those names are kind of crazy. xD I can't imagine having a bunch of kids with names that all start with 'Grace'. It would drive me insane...lol.
Hubby and I have already come up with 4 kids names (2 girls and 2 boys, just in case), which is handy since we're pregnant with our first. :) Don't know the gender yet, but we want 2 - 4, so we're prepared either way...lol.
His choices were Rena Marie (named completely after his grandmother) and Wyatt Joseph. The Joseph is for his uncle and the Wyatt we chose because we just like the name. Not sure why. xD
My names are Lilianah Rae or Kael Raye. The name Rae/Ray has been in my family for many, many generations, so I want to keep that tradition going. The first names I chose simply because I like them and hubby actually helped pick out Kael. I had to fight for Lilianah. xD

I named 3 kids - Iris, Skye and Ysle (as in isle). My nickname is Rainbow and ironically I married someone whose family is Nova. Sounds heavenly huh? Rainbow Nova thus I named my kids names that are associated to heavenly nature.... Iris - from the word Arco-iris or Rainbow. Skye as in the sky in heaen and Ysle as in the little isle in the sea. What's in a name? Not much except for a name recall. Unique names are easily remembered. Although at times, names curve who you become. As for me, I wanted to live up to my name... Rainbow which means hope. In my own little way, I bring hope to those who are almost losing hope in life.

LOL! Your one friends mom reminds me of my aunt and her late husband. I don't know the story behind it, other than all of their kids names start with the letter M. LOL
I didn't want to do anything like that when it came to naming my kids. So I purposely avoided certain letters of the alphabet. LOL This only made it that much harder for me to find names for them, especially when it came to my youngest. And even though I found one that my husband and I agreed on, neither of us cared for it much. In the end neither of us named our baby. My in-laws did it instead.
Happy mylotting!

As a Grandfather, and a Yogi, I will tell you a story about naming kids.
Every child (at birth) is an old soul, and been known by many names in his/her numerous lifetimes on this earth. Yogi's believe in reincarnation, and are able, via meditation to see into the past, and view some of their past-lives.Each lifetime is a learning experience, and a step up the ladder to God. Some interesting concepts are that each incarnating soul is given the opportunity to choose many circumstances about his/her next incarnation, like parents, place of birth, and name, as well as many events of the up-coming life that are important for that soul to experience. When you are naming your newborn, it is sometimes difficult to choose a name,( but think of it this way,) perhaps, the name you finally choose, will be a name the newborn has already approved, before he/she was born to you!

My name was given to me by my uncle too. My mom and dad thought a name similar to my present name. I would not prefer their choice though. My name is better. It is not an old name, not too popular but sounds good when you hear. It has two meanings: first meaning is "halo around the moon" and the other "mirror". I like the names which have meanings and a bit unique, not used by everyone and sounds good. I would choose such a name for my child.

My dad wanted to name me Magnum Caliber! :S my mom said no to that one. Then, I was going to be named after a song called 'Amanda' by Boston. But I already had a cousin Amanda, so they didn't choose that. And then they came up with Brittany. I'm not sure how they came about it. My mom says she thought it was a pretty name. My middle name, Anne, has been passed through my family in some way shape or form.
I don't have kids, yet. But I have always loved the name Misty. I don't know why, but I do. As for the middle name, I'm not sure. I had a dream once that I had a little girl named Misty Twilight. Mom said that I read those books too much! It sounded pretty, but I'm not sure. Then, I thought of the name Misty Lynn. Lynn, because my dad's name is Lynn. As for a boy, I like the name Cael or Caleb. Not sure why, they just sound really cute! :)

The day I was born, relatives were around, Kids were asking what's going to be my name. My father come up with "a name" just to quite the kids because during that time they have not decided yet as to what it should be. From then on the kids kept calling the new born (w/c is me)the name that my father gave them. When they have finally decided & it was formally announced that its the name for me, the kids objected & continued calling me the same. Finally, my parents gave in and just decided to have me baptist with the said name.
I also have one niece whose name was taken from 5 persons. Those 5 persons names were combined to form the babys name. ja-re-lo-bea-rin. I liked it. I also have this relative whose names, from father, mother to their 3 kids have the beginning letters of the vowels. A-E-I-O-U. Great timing.
