A 97 year old woman in Michigan was working in her yard when she realized that she was being surrounded by 4 Pit Bulls. The PBs were circling her when one lunged at her. She hit the dog in the head & it backed off. A short time later another of the PBs lunged at her & once again she hit the dog & it backed off. She was considering what she would do if all 4 attacked her at the same time when her little cat Tiger jumped out in the middle of the dogs & took off running for the garage. The dogs followed the cat & the lady ran for her house. The cat literally saved her life!!! Needless to say she was petrified for her cat's safety until the dogs left & the cat came back to the house.

A lady in Texas was being attacked by 2 Pit Bulls when her cat jumped from the bushes scratching one dog & hissing at the other. This distracted the dogs long enough so her husband could get her in the house!!!
I used to have a Tom that would do anything to make sure I was safe. I believe he would have attacked any dog or person trying to harm me. I jokingly called him my attack cat. I had a female cat that attacked my husband every time he hugged me. Do you have a very protective cat & has it every tried to save your life??? Come on...tell me your story!!!

It was hearing stories like this about pitbull attacks that made me scared of dogs when I was younger but now I have a pitbull/boxer mix and I love her so much. My dog is extremely protective of me and my family. She is the biggest sweetheart ever! But if you get near me or you try to touch her she will growl at you. If you just walk by her and not pay her any attention she won't do anything. Most of the time when I walk with her outside she ignores people and is just always looking around at her suroundings like the nosy little dog that she is. But then there are those people who know that she is not receptive towards strangers (which is why I always put this muzzle type of thing on her) and they still want to provoke her by trying to touch her. Which I hate. But I really think that if it came down to it and I was in trouble she will protect me.
There was one time that I remember that I was walking her and this guy was walking towards her. He asked me a question and when she saw that he was talking to me she growled at him. She was like six months old when this happened. Like I said she is very protective of her family.

Oh and I feel so sorry for that woman. Watching that video made me really sad about it. There are dogs that are protective over their owners but then there are those that are very aggresive and just attack people for no reason. I'm getting a trainer for my dog so that she can understand what the difference is between me being in danger and me just talking to someone.

I have absolutely NOTHING against Pit Bulls. Yes, they can be aggressive. Yes, they can be the most kind & loving dog. I love & respect ALL animals & they usually know that. I had a friend that adopted a Pit Bull. When I went to visit, I instinctively tried to make friends. Her husband warned me that the dog didn't like anyone but the family. I calmly talked to the dog, offering him my hand. Before I left that night, the dog was laying against my leg & allowing me to scratch his head & ears. The owner just couldn't believe it!!!
I also had a neighbor move off & leave their Pit Bull behind. We worked different hours & I didn't know they were gone at first. That dog would break into my fence & eat my dog's food. He lived with me for a week & he became very protective of me. I probably would have kept him had he not insisted on attacking my puppy every time it tried to eat. I finally saw the owner one day & told them that if they didn't come get the dog, i was turning him over to animal rescue as I couldn't find him s home. After the second week, they came over & took him home with them.
I think Pits get a bad rep simply because people don't understand them & most owners want them in order to train them to be mean. Pits do have certain instincts that creates problems for them. The 4 in Michigan belonged to the elderly lady's next door neighbor. She kept them locked in her house while she was at work, but they broke open a window & escaped. she promised that she'd try & find a way to keep them inside. They must not have a good home with the way they were surrounding this woman!!! Fortunately, they never went into full attack mode!!!!

Hi LadyM~ Wow! Those are some serious stories! My Luna growls
and hisses at my boyfriend sometimes, and then other times when
he comes home from work he runs like hell!lol But, I think if
someone were attacking me, he would stay under the bed.
And his brother Star would come out and want to make friends
and end up probably getting killed so I would really be
sh!t out of luck with my two "heroes"!

. I had a cat that would attack my hubby every time he hugged me. I think it was more jealousy than bravery!!! I had one cat that would run under the bed every time the doorbell rang. My sweet baby Kip would probably clean himself while I was being attacked. My cat from hell, Romeo, might attack. He has been a lot more loving lately...to the point I'm watching my own back just in case!!!

Hey stranger!!! In my lifetime, dogs have been expected to protect their owners. However, I've seldom heard of many cats who chose to do the same...actually this was the first. Now the cat that jumped in the middle of 4 Pit Bulls & then took off running was brave & pretty confident as to her fleet feet!!! She was smart enough to stay hidden until the dogs left. The one that attacked one Pit Bull while challenging the other was either very brave/confident or close to being stupid. That could have turned out soooo freaking bad!!! My vet has always told me that a cat has the capability of killing an attacking dog, but they just don't know it. Maybe cats are finally learning their inner strengths!!!

Hi LadyM,
Wher was the owner of the dogs while this is going on? in this country, the owner would have been charged or given a warning to be kept on a leash, the4y are class as a dangerous dogs, I am so glad that her cat protected her. My cats are useless as they come, they rather sleep all day, I know as When our Gab and Gissi came to visit me, Gissi walked striaght into the house and the cats ran straight out LOL!! scary cats that they are, then again I have never been in the position of been attack by any dogs. Hugs.

From the best I can figure out, when Gissi walks in, everybody runs for cover!!!
Love ya Gissi!!!
It has been my experience that most cats run from dogs. I found it extremely interesting that both these cats chose to protect their owners by putting themselves in harms way!!! I've made jokes about attack cats, but I've never known one who truly deserved that distinction!!! It's good to know there are some Wonder Cats out there!!!!

Dogs are scary, especially large dogs! Every time I pass by a dog I worry about his attacting! So usually I hate dog a little although I know that most of time dogs are friendly to human beings. Anyway, the cat is extremely brave and must has moved its owner a lot! I am moved too, after all a cat will usually run away when it comes across a dog, not mention attacking the dog to distract it from other things! Brave cat! But there is another thing I would like to know, what is the differnece between a pit bull and an ordinary domestic dog? Is it much larger?

a sweet hero cat.the cats must have loved their owners so much.the owners of the pitbulls should have been responsible.they should socialize their pets and have them trained.aggressive pitbulls are usually aren't socialized.a friend of mine has a pitbull, but it isn't aggressive.it was socialized well with people.

The owner of the dogs just said "it's NOT MY fault". She said she kept them locked in her mobile home during the day when she was at work. The dogs broke out a window & escaped. I cannot imagine how hyper those dogs were when they escaped!!! 4 active, aggressive dogs confined to a small mobile home would be enough to drive the dogs crazy. I find the problem with most Pit Bulls is their owners. They are chosen for their aggressive qualities & then they are NOT socialized so they will become even more aggressive. The ones I've known that were socialized have been very loving & sweet dogs. Back in the 60s the dog to be feared was the Doberman Pinscher. People were in an uproar to have ALL Dobermans eradicated. I had 2 of them & both were very loving & protective. My Dobes never offered to bite anyone, yet made them think they would be bitten if they crossed an imaginary line.I can see the potential for a Pit Bull to be aggressive due to their breeding, but I've seen sweet & loving Pit Bulls also. I have a friend who owns a Rottweiler. That dog is a BIG baby!!!! The meanest dog I ever owned was a 5 pound Chihuahua. The biggest baby I've owned was a 125 pound Doberman. So, I believe any dog has the potential to be dangerous!!!

that cat is a hero.
Sadly, i can't say the same for my cat, since he is also afraid of my little black female kitten who hisses all the time.my dog is not a pitbull, she's nice but she can bark when ever there's strangers around. she actually panics with people using the ladders to fix up the wires in the electric post.
I wish my cat would be like that.

BOTH cats were heroes!!! It took a brave cat to jump in the middle of 4 Pit Bulls to save her owner. It took an even braver cat to attack a Pit Bull & threaten another. I've owned many cats, but never had one to exhibit that much bravery. One of my cats attacked my husband every time he hugged me. That was more jealousy than bravery!!! She also knew my hubs wouldn't do anything to hurt her in return. The Tom that I had that I called my attack cat was always watching out as if he was willing to protect me, but he was never tested. He had been taken in as a stray & appreciated a good home!!! I have 3 dogs....all bark at strangers, but I don't think any of them would bite. I have a neighbor who rides a bike all the time. They bark at him like they're going to eat him alive, but I doubt they would. I had a mechanic outside my fence working on my car & the dogs were barking like crazy. He walked over to the fence, reached over & pet them on the head. They turned into the loving dogs I know them to be. I like the fact that they make strangers feel they are dangerous as it keeps strangers out of my yard!!!
