It is generaly believed that a high diploma guarantees a promising future. Some people identify high diplomas with profound knowledge and exceptional competence. Companies also tend to emphasize the academic achievement of a job candidate. Like it or not, there does exist a social reality-the higher diploma one gets, the more popular he becomes. What do you think about this question?

in our society today the Diploma is more important if you are intelligent but do not have a diploma your neighbors or other people will think that you're not intelligent but if you got a diploma even though you only got a poor grades during your college life, you will still be respected by peoples around you. even on jobs if you will apply in a company they will not ask how intelligent are you but they will ask for you diploma as a proof, knowledge will be important after you began your work to prove yourself but diploma will do the first thing for you.

today everything must be proven just like science you need a proof of how things work just like in our lives you need a diploma to prove that you're intelligent, sadly those poor people with knowledge will not even have the chance to prove that they are intelligent cause they don't have the money to go to college.

I'm sorry to hear that some intelligent people not have the chance to prove themselves. But it was exist in present. On the one hand,I hope this phenomenon can cause repercussions to the public, they should reduce theirs prejudices. On the other hand, maybe those people could take some other measures to prove their values.Take Bill Gates for example. His dropping out of college cann't deny the fact that he is one of the world's most learned man.

Apparently, diploma is more important than knowledge here, and i think in most part of the world. Diploma is like a solid evidence that you have knowledge, or so they think. There are a lot of people out there that's more knowledgeable than those who has diplomas. I also believe that street smarts is better than book smarts.

Agreed.Street smarts is more improtant. As a human being, you must learn how to survive first.I don't doubt that a good diploma could make you easier to find a stable job,but a large part of those people are torpid and lack creativity, they couldn't make big money.Wherein,I don't mean knowledge is not significant.Diploma is just a ticket to success.

I know a lot of people who have college diplomas and yet their brains are empty. I also know people who have never had the opportunity to study in school and yet their wisdom and knowledge astound me.
But like it or not, many employers consider the diploma as a proof that a person has the knowledge and skills required to perform certain jobs. A hospital wouldn't hire someone as a nurse if he or she doesn't have a diploma. I guess you wouldn't go to a doctor who dropped out of medical school. There are jobs that do not require a diploma, but they don't pay as much as the jobs for degree holders, although there are some exceptions. I'm a college dropout and yet I earn more than some college graduates in our province do.
If you really want to be rich, you can do it without a college diploma. And people seldom become rich by being employees. Most rich people I know are entrepreneurs. Bill Gates, once the richest man on earth, is a college dropout. He has so much money that he has already given billions away! He's the perfect example of a man without a college diploma but has the knowledge required to be wildly successful. And yes, he's an entrepreneur.

I agree with what you said.I think a diploma is only the acknowledgment of one's educational experience rather than a guarantee of one's ability.Just as you said about Bill Gates, his dropping out of college cann't deny the fact that he is one of the world's most learned man.I know you also do well now.Maybe you are likely to be the next Bill Gates in the furture,haha...
Good luck!

I think both are pretty important where I live, especially when you look for jobs, so it is not really one or the other here.
