Seasonal depression, often called seasonal affective disorder (SAD)called seasonal affective disorder each year at the same time, usually starting in fall or winter and ending in spring or early summer (As per my opinion)..season is changing and the days are getting shorter...Do you find your moods more depressive in the winter/rain/summer time or not?For some it is just a mild, temporary feeling of helplessness a very minor form of depression. For others it can be very serious(like me..!)

in my opini0n, we all go through depressi0n specially f we're undr a lot of stress or f s0methng goes out of hand.this should only last for a few days (for s0me may last for a m0nth. Depends on their c0ping) that's why it helps to talk to s0meone to release such negative em0ti0n. depressi0n lasting for m0re than a year is not a go0d sign and one sh0uld seek medical medical advice

I also think we all undergo depression in some part of our life. I think one of the best way to deal with depression is to make oneself busy in life.

I don't have seasonal depression, but I have had a bout of very serious depression just a few months ago when I really hit rock bottom due to some personal problems. I can also say that the depression was something that kept piling on with each disappointment, I just let them pass me by. But now, I know better how to deal with my depression because I can't afford and I don't want the same thing happening (my serious depression a few months ago).

I don't, but my mother does. She feels down around winter and during the the rain. When the sun comes out she feels better. Although, she loves storms.

Yes, I suffer from a mild form of this, although mine is more related to the amount of sunshine than the temperature. For instance, I am always more productive and energetic on a sunny day--even if I am stuck inside all day! And, during the shorter winter days, especially in January and February, I often feel blase and unmotivated, especially if it is a gray, gloomy day to start off with. There are things you can do to alleviate these symptoms, if they are not too severe, and they seem to work for me--have more lights on in the house in winter, do more indoor family activities with the kids (or whomever), increase your exercise program to increase your serotonin levels. I have also purchased a sun lamp--not a tanning lamp, but the type that actually provide you with vitamin D, and use it for short periods during the winter. All you need to do is sit under it, while reading, watching TV, or whatever. One of the causes of SAD may be related to lower natural vitamin D sources (thus causing your own vitamin D levels to drop enormously), and this type of lamp certainly helps with that.

Sometimes I get depressed on different situations in life. I do not get depressed on different seasons. Sometimes without any reasons I become very sad. Most times when I have nothing to do I feel depressed. One of the way to deal with depression is to keep oneself busy.

I have got depressed a few times, but I never thought about if thats seasonal depression. But I guess I get more easily depressed aorund summer, but thats only because of all the exam, test and decision I need to make for the next year etc. All results and decision will be around that time and I have got depressed related to these things before.

Depression can come to a person at any one time. It can be triggered by disappointments or failures in some endeavor, loss of a loved one, breakup with a loved one, yes even change of season can also affect moods in some ways. Well I also do have some share of depression in some points of my life but the good news is that I know how to cut short whatever depression that come my way. I know God would not want me to depress. God wants me to be joyful all the time. In His Word it is written "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. (Phil.4:4) Another bible verse that is worth remembering and an effective antidote to depression is this: Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made know unto God. And the peace of God that passeth all understanding shall keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Well the word of God is a great comforter. This is the reason why I always delight in the Word of God. A person who reads the word of God on a regular basis will not dwell in depression.

I get a little down before the end of winter but I have a friend that needs medication during the winter season for this condition. It can be very intense for someone suffering from this form of depression. I read that they are trying light therapy for it and seem to be able to treat it that way. Have you ever tried the light therapy?

I will admit that I have had a degree of depression that has set in with me over the course of the last week. However, I don't think that the depression that I've been feeling lately has anything at all to do with seasonal affective disorder. Instead, I tend to believe that what I've been going through has a lot to do with the fact that I've been through a lot this year and it is only now that it is really starting to sink in with me.

Hi Crazy, sorry I missed this one earlier. :) Frankly, I can be very sad, and yet find something that almost instantaneously brings me out of that. So I often question myself whether I really feel that sad or am I just acting it because everybody expects me to feel that way. I just know that the usual - prolonged depressive phase is not for me. God has blessed me to be like this, and I hope he keeps me this way. When I feel helpless, I fight. I believe in it - its like a person drowning throwing his or her arms around for survival before sinking. So I make those desperate attempts as well. I dont meekly give up a point where I know I am right, and which is material at that point of time. :) So you know why I dont get into depression. :)

Oh great. That feels good. :) But my problem is I am not depressed. :( I dont go into that kind of despair. That is why I feel I am not attached to anything. And you do know what you have to do mel to get into my will. :) @Crazy - if you are serious about purchasing there ... let me know. We can then form a group of mylotters staying in the same colony. :)

Maybe a little, but not obviously. A season is a long time, if one is in depression all the season, it will be horrible. I have a periodic depression, one or two days in depression after a period of time, but it didn't last too long.
