l finally got around to watching this movie. l've never been a Trekkie but l kinda liked it XD l mean when you don't look at it as a part of a franchise the only two things that bother you are chekov's lame forced "Russian" accent and those terrible lens flairs. Seriously what were they thinking? l was looking at it an l was like "man this is ridiculous"
What are your thoughts on the movie?

As a Star Wars fan from a young age, I always had a weird notion that I should look down upon the Star Trek franchise. But last year I started watching TOS and I really love it. I enjoy TNG too, but haven't watched much of the others. I love that Roddenberry was an atheist and a humanist, and his values really come through in the show, particularly in the original series. His hope for a better world in the future, free of violence and religion, and based on equality and pursuing knowledge are the same things I hope for. So it's something that means a lot to me.
I think the movie did a good job at representing the characters to an extent, and it was certainly entertaining, but the Uhura/Spock relationship and other things thrown in to appeal to the Hollywood audience held it back. Overall, I enjoyed it, but would rather not think of it as canon

We actually watched this movie yesterday. Honestly, I was in and out of it. The movie didn't really hold my interest. My friend really liked it though. Sci Fi is difficult for me to watch (or read) I just don't get into it. I do know what you mean about the Russian accent though, it was pretty bad!

When I saw the movie was coming out I was very excited, having been a fan of the star trek shows and movies since I was a child. So, when I finally got the chance to sit back and watch it.. well.. I have to say that actually, I was very impressed! The new actors really nailed the personalities of the characters they were portraying. Aside from the "accent issue" it was really very well done. It helped to fill in a lot of information about the characters that was previously not well known. As for the Uhura-Spock relationship.. I rather liked it. Spock was always my favorite character, and I like how they showed him trying to deal with his human side. It was a great movie.

I remember watching it and thinking... "Wow... it's all so very... shiny." I liked it though. I'm not really a Star Trek fan... my parents are though. I've seen some of the old episodes and a large number of the new ones too. I liked the new movie. You didn't have to know a whole lot about the series to understand it, and it was good by itself as a movie.

I thought it was pretty good. First time seeing wasn't a big fan of them destroying the timeline but now see it as a good thing. I also think Zachary Qunito is AMAZING as Spock. I enjoyed spock the most. quinto got alot of what nimoy did in TOS. speaking o nimoy, i loved him in this film
