Another Business – Great!

I’ve been invited to yet another business down here in Mexico.
It’s not the first time. This time ‘round a friend of mine invited me. He breeds German Shepherd dogs, then sells them. It seems to be quite lucrative, but, as with anything that involves reasonable amounts of money down here, it’s quite dangerous, too.
He tells me a lot. There is this example of a gentleman who showed up. He was very interested in a dog, picked one, left a 50% down-payment, set off with the dog and said he would be back with the rest of the money. He didn’t say when, however.
Weeks went by, and after getting tired of waiting, my friend talked to his son. He works in some government agency, some police department or other. Technically he doesn’t have access to the police’s database, but you know how THAT goes. So my friend’s son looked up this guy, and got the whole enchilada. The gentleman was, and still is, a leading member of the Zetas, a powerful crime organization down here. And my friend was advised by his son not to pursue the matter anymore, it would just be too dangerous....
There was this other gentleman who bought a puppy two years ago. According to my friend, this puppy was perfectly okay, until his new owner decided that it was not and took him to a vet. The vet, smelling money, said that the poor dog needed surgery, and he operated on him. And he operated very badly, so that the poor dog, which was perfectly okay, now limps like an old man on a cane.
The new owner called my friend last week, after two years, accusing him of selling him a bad dog. He wanted it replaced!
This new owner isn’t a criminal, he is just a politician with a lot of clout. And ‘clout’ down her means ‘clout’. He threatened my friend to finish him off, use the local media to destroy his reputation, etc.
So my friend changed a new puppy for an invalid dog.
Should I go into this business? I dunno .....
