Are you doing what you said you wanted to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be a singer. I'm not a professional singer, but I do go out and sing karaoke every once in awhile. I also wanted to be a dancer. I really don't do much of that anymore. at least not in public ;) what did you want to do? are you doing it?

I wanted to be a flight attendant when I was really little. And then a vet. Then a cartoonist. And then a mother. And then a fashion designer. Currently, I am jobless while I show some pieces of my paintings at art shows. I have not idea what I'd like to be now but forever an artist.

Absolutely not, I wanted to be a stewardess, a doctor, a lawyer and a judge all at once.

Well, the funny thing is that it did seem to change every week when I was about five or six. And I doubt I could have even fully comprehended where I wanted to go in life at that age to begin with. Still, I wanted all the things that did seem cool to children. Fireman, policeman, astronaut, sports star, any number of things. I even went through that phase where I wanted to open up my own lawn mowing business. I even created fliers and a fake phone number. Seems a bit absurd now, but hey, I was five.
Still, I never could have imagined working with computers right now. Then again, at that age, computers were some strange mystery that I could barely even begin to comprehend. It was an entirely different world to say the least. Still, I cannot really complain, but I just have to give a smile about how interesting my dreams as a child were.

That is wonderful. I am in some ways fortunate too for having the opportunity to do what I wanted to do. I wanted to travel to countries in different parts of the world. I finally got a perfect job that requires me to travel to overseas countries. I enjoy that very much. It is so interesting to meet and work with people of different nationalities and cultures.
Best wishes to you too !

I wanted to be a lawyer. To be honest, i still do. I'm currently in college right now so I can't really say that I think I'm "grown-up" just yet but the fact that I'm studying something almost completely unrelated to law makes me feel as though I won't end up fulfilling my childhood dream. I don't know, really. I have a number of plans for the future, and I still plan on pursuing law later on in life, but in general, I think that the things we want as children eventually change to suit what we truly need as we grow up. I don't know, it's just a thought, I guess.

I think you're right. I started a topic not too long ago about the way that life kind of takes you down whatever road you need to be on, whether you planned to be on it or not. This is why I'm not a career singer. And you know...now that I'm an adult, I don't really think being a full time singer would be that much fun. I could be wrong...

The funny thing about this topic is that I did'nt end up what I thought I would be when I was a child. I bragged about being a priest, a soldier, a policeman, and a physical therapist. Guess what, I ended up being a lawyer. However, come to think of it, I am what I wanted to be as a child in one package. As a priest, I preach to clients in doing the right thing, as a soldier and as a policeman, I protect the rights of innocent people, as a physical therapist, I heal wounded feelings and abused bodies through litigation.

I like how you broke it down and made it fit into your goals. That's actually a very good talent to have. way to see the glass half full!
