I dont' have a job right now, but I can only work 8 hours without feeling too much stress. I used to work for a company where I could be at work for 12 hours and that was very stressful and harmful to my health. Needless to say I quit that job after my husband's urging me to do so.

I agree working 12 hours is stressful. When I taught
middle school, I taught 6.5 hours a day. It
was stressful because not only did I teach,
but I kept my students from danger. ( Keeping the students from leaning back in chairs, bullies, and fights )
I think it depends on what type of work you are doing.

I am sure that teaching is a lot more stressful because you have the children to worry over, and to teach. Teachers also have to worry about tutoring and detentions and things of that nature, now thinking back I am sure some teachers would have much rather have gone home right after school instead of staying to deal with those in detention.

I think it depends on what kind of work you do. My full time job I am in an office where I process work on the computer and also take phone calls all day. The computer work I could probably do 10 hours if needed, but the phone calls, after about 8 hours, I just cannot take talking to another person on the phone. In my part time jobs, if there were more hours in a day, I could do those for longer than 8 hours if needed.

In my case, it depends upon..before I usually doing my job for almost 12 hours or more (because of overnight) and 7 days a week especially when we are rushing, I just want to finish everything before the deadline and I'm excited for the results..but I realized my health is at risk if I will continue doing this so I take it slowly now--only 8-9 hours with as much as possible no weekends. Like what they say "work is very important, save some for tomorrow"-lol ^.^...somehow they are right! I need work to survive but it is not the only reason of my existence...^.^

As you say, normally human can work 8 hours with out any stress. it is the hummun s ecology that say work for 8 hour a day. but we usually work more. i my opinion work for 8 to 10 hours a day not more then that, and the rest of time spend with your children and family.

Well being that I have been unemployed now for 9 months, between applying for jobs and earning online i average abut 15 - 20 hours a day.
It has not got me any farther but I keep trying daily.

I spent more than 8hours in the office trying to finish all the job so it would not stuck-up in my table. I make sure I finish all the reports I need to finish in a daily basis so I will not take it home and be my homework, because when I'm at home I want to spent the remaining time of the day to my family.

As of the moment, I am not currently employed.., But when I was still working.., I used to work more than 8 hours.. It was fine with me because I was paid really well with the work I provided.. It was exhausting yet if you enjoy your job.., there's no way you'll get tire of doing it over and over again..,=)

Everyday, I work around 8 to 9 hours. Sometimes, I do more than the hours. I like my job so the time last very short and i am happy with my job also and that is my idea.

I do enjoy my work. It is the type of work I had all along wanting to have. But, still, working long hours in a day can be very tiring and exhausting. I have to be at my work place for twelve hours on some days. That's very stressful and tiresome. By the time I get back home, I am pretty much down and out. Any way, as mentioned, since I like the type of work, I am staying on with it. All my colleagues are very friendly and helpful too.

Well, I do work around 8 hours a day assuming that I work. As you can see, I conduct trainings and I travel from time to time. Usually the training last for about 3 days. So on those dates, I work at around 8 hours per day. Sometimes, I do extend. But the good thing is that I decide on my schedule so there are times, that I can free myself the whole week and just hang out and relax. I can also set a schedule that will let me work all week. I love my job and this is perhaps I enjoy it and do not think of it as work. So, I really do not feel tired at all.

a pleasant day to you saranshnaik,
with reference to your query - in the office, i do worked nine hours a day, five times in a week. for this reason, in a span of one week with my regular work - i do worked for about 45 hours a week.
in addition to this, i am extending my working time doing my other business. since i do need an extra income, i need to add an additional time to the regular working time that i am doing.

I usually work 9 hours a day including lunch time, we didn't consume the 1 hour lunch break, we get back in the office as soon as we finish the meal. When overtimes comes, I usually extend 1-2 hours.

I normally work 8 hours a day. I used to work like 12 to 16 hours with one of my previous crazy flex circuit company. And sometime even work more that 24 hours. I was really like a mad man when I was in that company. I have to standby 24 hours. Work load was so much that I leave the company because I cannot stand the pressure..now I am with the very very much better company...and I have learn to appreciate my time after I have work with that crazy company...

i used to have a 10 hr shift 4 days a week. but because of admin works (that's not paid btw) i would usually stay an hr or 2 more after my shift has ended. i wasn't feeling stressed back then because i loved what i was doing. the people i worked with were my friends and they worked twice as hard as i did. so it wasn't that tiring at all. i guess if you enjoy what you do 8 or 10 hrs is just a short time.
