Who do you think is the best "Panday"?

I just watched Bong Revilla's Ang Panday and I was disappointed. The effects are great but it's a little dragging. Lacks humor and "adventure". Phillip Slavador did a great Lizardo on this one. He was so evil that I thought it wasn't him at all.
I grew up watching the late Fernado Poe's Ang Panday and I have never been more entertained. Everytime it's being aired on TV, I always beg my mom to let me watch it even though it's being shown late at night. :D
Then came Jericho Rosales' show in ABS-CBN. I never bothered watching it. I don't know why. Ahaha. I never liked him as an actor.
Ang Dugo ng Panday (please do correct me if I am wrong) is a good film. Where Aiko Melendez was the leading lady and Edu Manzano was Lizardo. But still, the late Max Alvarado is my favorite Lizardo.
But I still love the FPJ classics. One of the many reasons would be because they showed a lot of character - popular pinoy characters like the Mulawin, Manananggals, Zombies, Mangkukulam/Witch and etc. Bong Revilla is the handsome panday and Jericho is.. well, he's Jericho. But FPJ has the complete package. He's the down-to-earth character and charisma. So he will always be my favorite Panday. LOL.

T.U, allow me to disagree. Jericho was, for me, the most delicious Panday ever! Sorry for "delicious". NOthing else seemed to fit!
The best panday would have to be FPJ of course. He was a natural. A true legend.
Bong Revilla always put premium in his works especially when it comes to effects. Have you seen Resiklo? Well, it wasn't HOllywood level but it was mighty impressive for something Philippine-made. Not to demean but let's face it....
And I have to agree that too much emphasis on the effects makes the storyline and the momentum of the movie suffer.

Ahaha! Hi, T.A. I bet you're a big jericho fan. You must've folow all his teleseryes and all the loveteams before.
Yeah, Bong Revilla's attempt on the "special effect" movies was impressive. He has guts but Resiklo has the same attributes with his Panday films (except for Dugo ng Panday)they always lack something. Of not humor, then the build up of the characters.
It breaks my heart sometimes but he has to take pride of the story and not the special effects.

It would definitely be the King, FPJ. His charisma is overwhelming and he suits the character. Plus, he's the original Panday and that I think is the most valid reason why he is the best Panday.

Nobody does it best but the original, FPJ. The guys a legend and if ever you hear the word again, one thing always come to mind. It's FPJ. I know there are a lot of persons who portrayed the character, Bong Revilla, Jericho Rosales or even Pandoy Joey De Leon (a mimic of FPJ) but nothing else can be compared to the late FPJ. May his soul rest in peace, farewell PANDAY!

the best is pandoy ang alalay ni panday... LOL. i guess the actor is Joey D. even if you watch this movie ten times twenty or thirty times, it would still make laugh, but for the others i'm not amused, hahaha.. any way the KING is still the best panday. with the manerism...LOL. PEACE

just because technology made the new panday movies acted by jericho and bong. it doesnot change my love for the original panday by the only FPJ. with the classic FPJ film, i appreciate the creativity of the movie makers how they made the effects still real. i prefer all the cast who were with fpj as well.

Hello Totally-pretty-undecided,
I would like to apologize but this latest version of Panday is completely off to me. first, most of the scenes were based on the Lord of the Rings, which was my turn off there. and the song isn't as intense or doesn't give the kind of heroic image to me. that's my opinion by the way.
Second, this is the 2nd time Bong Revilla, Jr. cast as panday. the first one was way back 1993, and for me, it was the best PANDAY movie ever made. the name of that movie was "DUGO NG PANDAY"(blood of the BlackSmith) where he was a lawless descendant of original panday which later turned him into a hero later.this time line was during spanish era.
DUGO NG PANDAY was my favorite...
the song was way better than the panday he protray for the second time.
again, it's just my opinion...
not a referral link..

Hi, Handsome LK (here we go again with the tags - LOL).
I have to agree. Dugo ng Panday was his best film among the rest that he made during the present. The present was a little dull and too many lacking to enumerate. But I hope he'll do next one a better one because he'll never be able to be on the same level as FPJ if he keeps on making things as it is just like the present Panday.

Nothing beats the original. Although i give all the other actors credit for trying their best to portray a "panday" with their own flavor, there's just no way they can compare with the late Pando. There's a lot of improvement on the other Pandays but other than that Pando's version is still the best.

Hi, ybong. You are very right. Even though they have thried their best in portraying the roles, they still can't live up to the classics.

The best for me is the portrayal of the late Fernando Poe Jr. Definitely, no one can close to him. Sure, special effects are better than ever but it is how the character that is being portrayed that matters most. Actors or actresses can breathe life into any movie.

I agree...Nobody can beat the late FPJ, the original Panday!
And the previous Panday movies are better too! Especially the scene wherein the villain Paquito Diaz got eaten by zombies and they feasted on his limbs and innards lol total horrific fun.

FPJ was spectacle in his career, his 'panday' sequel were one my favorites. He's just the natural 'panday' paramount in character. I can always watch those movies all over again. If there's someone fit for the same character it would be Bong Revilla. He projects a different image and he has his own attribute towards a fine story.

For me the best panday would be Fernando Poe. Ang Panday film had a great visual effects but lacks the cinematography.
