I used to be very frightened to go into a dark room all by myself, but that was long ago when I was still a kid. I think most of the children nowadays are just like what I was or like most of us were when we were still young--afraid that there might be real ghosts, vampires, wolves, or scary stuff like that, around us. But one thing for sure, as we grow older, we get so very preoccupied with so many things that we don't have time anymore to think of those kinds or maybe to scare ourselves off. Maybe sometimes we get so scared, but admit it, we're more scared of what other human beings can do to harm us rather than experience the supernatural things surrounding us.

Honestly speaking I am still afraid to enter a dark room and as soon as I see a dark room, I forget everything that is going on in my mind and start worrying about the ghosts.

I have never been afraid of the dark. I don't like the dark but not afraid of it. The reason I don't like the dark is because I stumble when I have to walk in the dark. It makes me dizzy for some reason and I have trouble walking.
I asked my doctor about it once and she just laughed it off so I guess it isn't anything physical so it must be just me. Just this evening I went outside to have a smoke, took a break from mylot, and walked around from the back of the house to the front of the house and it's really dark around the side and I got dizzy and had to walk really slow. And then I sat on the front step to smoke and had to come back around to the back of the house to come in as my door is in the back and I live in the basement suite of my house. I got dizzy again walking back so I just walk slowly again and touched the wall of the house as I walked to balance myself.
Once I came back in the house I wasn't dizzy anymore and I am fine. It's just something to do with the dark.

I'm not no.
When I was a kid I went a through a brief spell where I didn't like being around the dark, mainly after I heard a story by someone who lived next door to my parents about someone who was killed in the area. it was just creepy from that point on and it was only until I got older it warn off.

Hi. len1415. Yes. I am afraid of the dark. I am 32 years old and I don't like to be in the complete darkness. I am frightened to see something scary! I have always been this way. When I get up out of the bed to leave my bedroom, I always make sure that I turn my hallway light on. I don't like to walk in the hallway without being able to see what is further ahead.

i had a few phases of this fear. i used to not be able to do it. i needed my little night light. then as i got older it was all the lights were on..more recently its iffy. sometimes i just get scared randomly and will leave my closet light on with the door open. other times i like it completely pitch black. but back to what you were saying. im not sure i agree with you. i think im more afraid of the supernatural than of what another human being can do to me. with the supernatural, basically everything is unexpected ..you never know if something could happen. but then again, due to the economy and the lack of jobs around i just have too much time on my hands lol [:

I hate to admit it , but yeah..at 38 I am scared of the dark. Maybe the word scared is not the word to use ( not for me ) but " uneasy" would describe it. I get this very uneasy feeling when I cannot see what is around me. Furthermore, I can't stand the quietness. I can actually go into a panic attack over it. My husband loves the dark so this obviously creates a problem, but bless his heart he deals with it and lets me have a small night light lol. But , with that said he LOVES it when I am away from home so he can have complete darkness. God help me if I ever go blind !

Of course, when I was a kid,I am afraid of the dark room, but when I grown up,I can suit this situation.I think it depends on what do you think,in a matter of fact, the dark room is lacked a light, but if we think much more about it,we will suffer the more afraid.

I'm more afraid of what's under my bed, than the dark. Especially after watching some horror movies, i tend to think that there are alot of such ghosts, monsters hiding under the bed, waiting to strike me while i'm sleeping.
As i grew up, i know there's nothing to fear because i'm looking at it almost everyday, when i'm sweeping and mopping the floor. It's just our imagination, whereby your last sentence is so true.

When I'm alone and I don't have protection and I'm not at home, yes I'm scared. I usually have these things at hand: my cel phone and/or a small flashlight and a swapper - just in case something crawls on me. At home, I'm usually not afraid of the dark, but there were very few instances when I felt chills that I had to keep all lights on within the range of my eye.

For me, I'm not as afraid to be in a dark room as I was, say, as a child. Usually if it is totally blank (such as during an electrical blackout), I can just navigate my way through touch without any emotional baggage or fuss. I remember when I was in primary school the teachers led us students into a hall and told us to sit down. Then they did the most cruel thing - they turned off all the lights and it was pitch dark. All of us started screaming like girls it was ridiculous. Also I was conditioned to be afraid of the dark when I was being convinced that ghosts and spirits existed and that they can haunt me at night. But over the years I've grown out of that the more used to staying up late at night and working in the dark.

I am still scared of darkness, esp in about one week after watching the horror films. When the memory of the horrific things fades,I will forget the whole films, and become brave again until next horror watching.

Frankly speaking, i'm still afraid of the dark...
I'm 20 years old, but i'm still afraid of the dark..
I sleep with mild lights, when there is a power off in the mid night, i would scream and my mother would come and give me a hand and lead me out of my room to the living room..
i would never walk into a dark street..
I don't know when i'm going to get away with those type of feelings..
hey, i like the book " Are u afraid of the dark" written by sidney sheldon!!

Normally I'm not scared of the dark. It's only after i happen to watch/read something sinister or scary (real or directors imagination) that i do become afraid of the dark. Then I let my imagination run rampant and I get so scared. hehehe

Honestly, I'm not so much afraid of the dark but I'm afraid of the unknown. Because anything could live in the dark, living in existince being unknown for its entire life. Such as STD's mostly you don't know if a person has them, as others. I am cautious of said things.

I am still scared of the dark and I am in my twentys. I still have to have atleast a light on to do anything through out my house. I am not scared of ghosts or anything like that I am scared of not knowing if maybe someone broke into my house and is waiting for me in my kitchen. I hate it because I am passing it on to my children.
