Friends my granddaughter Subhee will be 3 years old this October. She is a chatter box now, talks a lot. Most of the time she is with me, because my wife is now with my daughter, my younger son Subhee’s father is on business tour most of the time. So when her mother is doing house chores or cooking, Subhee sits with me. She plays with the key board, mouse etc and keeps asking tons of questions.
For last three days, she is asking me, ‘Why I don’t wear spectacles while sleeping’? She is not convinced with my answers.
Do you have small kids in your home, who keeps chattering and asking questions. This is natural and we must answer to the query.
What answer you suggest about her question on ‘not wearing spects’?

hmmm...try this one...a child with clear eyes doesn't need spectacles...you have clear eyes...does she love fairies? or any cartoon characters? Just pretend that you are explaining then go another way which you are directing her to her favorite characters....like, you don't wear spectacles because fairies are helping you to have clear eyes...or because you eat a lot of vegetables...wearing a spectacle is heavy for you....hehe....
I have a three yr old boy...and he's also asking questions about the things i like, or if i like his toys....silly but funny questions..good luck...have fun with your grand daughter.

It really is amazing some of the questions that children will come up with and Subhee's age is really where the questions start to come into play. I don't think either of my children have ever asked me that one, but they have asked all kinds of other things. My daughter was three when I was pregnant with my son and I remember her asking me where babies come from and I came up with a somewhat truthful and somewhat fictional answer that has kept her appeased to this point, her brother will be four next month.

My answers probably are no better than yours, but I think I'd tell her that she doesn't need spectacles when she sleeps because her eyes are closed. I suppose that you've already told her that. I'd, then, tell her that they would be uncomfortable and probably would not stay on her face. I'd get a pair of cheap toy glasses made of rigid plastic and let her try sleeping with them on her face.

Sometimes, kids ask wise questions which we even don't dream of thinking too. And there may be repetition of questions too. They don't get satisfied easily with our answers. We have to meet their logic too.
Well, here in this case, you can say that the doctor has told you to remove your specs during sleep hours. She would not dare to interpret further on a doctor's opinion!

She is at the "Why?" stage, kids do that at her age. They ask million questions. Just answer her questions to the best of your knowledge.
When she asked, "Why don't you wear spectacles while sleeping?" you could say, "They would get broken in my sleep if I did that." or something like that.
My nephew and cousins all did that at her age. All children ask "why" questions.

I am pretty certain you have figured out that she does not really want an answer. She only wants you to keep on talking and listening to her. You have explained this more than one time about the spectacles. The next time she asks you need to ask her, say "Subhee, why would you say I do not wear my glasses at night?" She may come up with an interesting story for you. When people, especially children, ask lots of questions, I will tend to reverse the trend and ask them questions.

Hi Professor, aren't young grandchildren fun. The only way I would try to answer her question is that we sleep with our eyes closed, so we don't need glasses. Also, our dreams are in our mind which is behind them.

All three year old children ask a lot of questions as they are constantly learning and looking for explanations for everything. I believe that you should explain to her that you do not need the glasses at night because you do not need to see like you do during the day.

Hey Professor, That's a really difficult one! I think she's
got you! I can't come up with an answer to satifsfy "inquiring
little minds" like that! Your little girl is going to be a handful
if she's coming up with those kind of tough questions already!

"Spectacles are used to see properly. When we sleep we close our eyes and we don't want to see anything. So we don't need spectacles while sleeping" Try this answer and reply me.
